It is because the larger scale corporate-controlled dairies requires pasteurization to effectively deliver milk over long distances and time spans but which denatures the milk.
If the public got wind just how unhealthy pasteurized milk is in comparison to raw milk, it would spell an economic disaster for the larger dairies. So it is vital, or more accurately it is absolutely necessary, to keep up the marketplace lie and at all costs – no matter who is harmed in the public or among producers and distributors on the chopping block.

These agencies, in collusion and support of corporate interests, won’t admit any of the foregoing. But the CDC has come forth with the fact, being subjected to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) inquiry, that not a single person has died from raw milk consumption in over a decade!
Previous lies about raw milk dangers exposed
All the propaganda and fear-mongering about alleged severe dangers of raw milk would make one think otherwise. After petitioning the CDC for clarification about its raw milk statistics, Mark McAfee, owner of Organic Pastures Dairy Company (OPDC) in California, finally threatened to file a FOIA request. He then received a response from an unidentified official that the single “raw milk” death that occurred between 1998-2008 was actually linked to illegal raw queso fresco cheese.
As to a second fear-mongered-about death, the agency has not come forth as to whether it was from similar causes. If it did, it would expose them to admitting they had lied all this time to the public.
Refusal to discuss pasteurization health risks
At the same time, the CDC’s avoidance of discussing the dangers of pasteurized milk is glaring. In 2006 alone, over 1,300 people got sick from pasteurized milk in California alone– and yet the CDC only highlights 39 reported illnesses every year linked to raw milk. Most of these links are likely questionable because raw milk has so many health benefits over pasteurized.

What is rBGH?

The Truth Is Suppressed
In 1997, two Fox-affiliate investigative journalists, Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, attempted to air a program exposing the truth about the dangers of rBGH. Lawyers for Monsanto sent letters promising “dire consequences” if the story aired. After attempts by Fox to bribe the reporters to keep quiet failed, the station agreed to air a revised version of the report. An unheard of 83 edits later, the report was shelved and the courts took over. Although a lower court ruled in favor of the reporters for some $425,000, a Florida appeals court denied them whistleblower protection, claiming Fox (and the media in general) have no obligation to tell the truth and have the freedom to report, essentially, fact OR fiction as real news. Corrupt FDA Ignores Fails to Protect the Public
Despite decades of evidence about rBGH dangers, the FDA – probably the most corrupt government agency on the planet, still maintains it’s safe for human consumption. It ignores scientific evidence. According to Dr. Samuel Epstein, a well-respected professional in cancer prevention and toxicology and chairman of the Cancer Prevention Coalition, the FDA has not responded to evidence that rBGH is unsafe with anything that is meaningful. Money rules over scientific truth.
In 1999, the United Nations Safety Agency ruled unanimously not to endorse or set safety standards for rBGH milk, which has effectively resulted in an international ban on U.S. milk.

Monsanto’s own data show up to an 80 percent incidence of mastitis in hormone-treated cattle, resulting in the administration of antibiotics and other drugs. The Canadian Journal of Veterinary Research (2003) also found 16 different harmful medical conditions resulting from rBGH administration to dairy cattle, including:

55 percent increased risk for lameness

RBGH Raises Levels of IGF-1 in Milk by Up to 70 Percent IGF-1 is a potent hormone that acts to accelerate cell growth and replication – and in a cancer like way. Not surprisingly elevated IGF-1 levels are associated with breast and other cancers. When cows are injected with rBGH, their levels of IGF-1 increase up to 20-fold, and this IGF-1 is excreted in the milk.
In one study, a six-fold increase in IGF-1 levels in milk were found as early as seven days following rBGH treatment.Not only are IGF-1 levels elevated but a significant portion of this is in a free form that may be 10 times as potent as the IGF-1 in untreated milk. Pasteurization does NOT destroy this protein but can actually increases IGF-1 levels by about 70 percent, presumably by disrupting protein binding.Science also tells us that these things also do NOT break inside of us when you swallow them but are absorved into our bloodstream, as evidenced by both human and animal studies. Infants and children absorb even more.
How Elevated IGF-1 Levels Raises Your Breast Cancer Risk
Only one of every 10 breast cancer cases is attributed to genetics—the other nine are triggered by environmental and dietary factors. Increased IGF-1 levels have been linked to mot only breast but colon, and prostate cancers as has been documented in about 50 scientific publications over the past three decades. Among them is the 1998 Harvard Nurses Health study, which showed that premenopausal women with elevated IGF-1 levels had up to a seven-fold increase in breast cancer. And women younger than age 35 who have elevated IGF-1 have more aggressive breast cancer.
How does IGF-1 contribute to breast cancer?
IGF-1 regulates cell growth, cell division, and the ability of cancer cells to spread to your distant organs (invasiveness).
According to Dr. Epstein, IGF-1 blocks your natural defense mechanisms against early microscopic cancers. A study authored by Dr. Epstein demonstrated that IGF-1 in rBGH milk is a potential risk factor for both breast and gastrointestinal cancers. And a study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention concluded that diet can impact cancer risk by influencing IGF-1 level.

Are You Drinking rBGH Milk?
You very well may be drinking rBGH milk, or eating rBGH cheese or yogurt, as no labeling is required. This is despite the fact that surveys show that more than 80 percent of Americans want it labeled, but the government is protecting financial interests over your health. The good news is, as increasing numbers of consumers and dairies choose to avoid rBGH, you can find labels that say “rBGH-free” or a similar variation. Organic milk is also rBGH-free. According to the Hartman Group, organic milk is now among the first organic product consumers buy.
Organic milk is enjoying an annual growth rate of about 20 percent, while overall milk consumption has dropped by about 10 percent.
Organic milk is certainly preferable to milk that contains this dangerous hormone. However, drinking any milk that is pasteurized—organic or not – has health consequences. (Healingtalks) Thanks to a survey performed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) we now have sufficient data to evaluate raw milk’s safety, and it turns out it’s safer than most any other food!
In a talk given at the International Raw Milk Symposium, Dr. Ted Beals outlined the history of the pasteurization scam. This was justified by an industry desperately in need of pasteurization for its economic survival. The proposed health hazards of raw milk were fabricated to support pasteurization. [i] Dr. Ted Beals also examined a compilation of published reports on illnesses attributed to raw milk from 1999 to 2010. These illnesses averaged 42 per year. The CDC’s survey showed that 3.04 percent of the population consumed raw milk or 9.4 million people, and this translates into raw milk-attributed illnesses being more than rare. According to Sally Fallon Morell of the Weston A. Price Foundation, Dr. Beals has shown you are about 35,000 times more likely to get sick from other foods than you are from raw milk.[ii]
Why then did the CDC, FDA, Department of Agriculture hire guns this year to confiscate raw milk products and arrest and jail proprietors of Rawsome, a California raw organic buying club? Also earlier this year a raw-milk buying club in Kentucky had its products quarantined by local officials. [iii] Additionally an armed pre-dawn raid was conducted against an Amish farmer in PA whose crime was the selling of raw milk. [iv] So there is a consistent national pattern. Why again do we see such intense efforts to criminalize raw food sellers?
True Problem With Raw Milk
According to findings of Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the average shelf-life of pasteurized milk held under proper refrigeration – defined as less than 45 degrees F – is 12-16 days.
Like raw vegetable juices, raw milk stays fresh for either just a handful of days or as long as a couple of weeks.[vi] This shelf-life uncertainty spells economic disaster for any large dairy operation that culls milk from diverse local dairies. Pasteurization nullifies this differential by creating a more uniform and profitable end product. Freezing will keep milk fresh for a month. However, the flavor and texture will change, so this is not a viable option. [vii]
Why Only Raw Milk Was Targeted By Combined Federal Agencies.
Why aren’t government agencies also coming together to ban raw meat, fish or eggs? Raw eggs can stay fresh for roughly 3-10 weeks. [viii] Meat can stay fresh in a freezer for 1-2 months and fish for up to 6 months! But unpasteurized milk can sour in as little as a few days (barely enough time to profitably transport at a distance and to stock shelves). If consumers found out the truth – that the real reason for pasteurization had nothing to do with health or safety advantages (and actually denatures milk to form an inferior product), it would spell economic disaster for large corporate dairies. How to resolve this threat? The industry worked to convince the public that raw milk alternatives were scientifically unhealthy and unsafe to drink! The best way to accomplish this public deceit was to engage corruptible scientists and government officials to pronounce the age-old drinking of raw milk to be somehow dangerous. Is there a final follow up step? It is to criminalize and eliminate the competition by governmental force.

(Healingtalks) The listeria scare in the major media is being promoted by the very same group of institutions that are trying to scare our population away from eating the healthiest of foods like sprouts, celery, raw milk, etc – ignoring the astronomically greater dangers of processed food, including pasteurized milk (a cause for millions, rather than a handful, suffering from arthritis and arteriosclerosis). The truth is that deaths and illnesses from raw-food borne conditions are so rare that they are not statistically significant as being causative. What the media reports is really mass deception. Rare cases where deaths are attributed (and by whom, reliably?) generally affect those with highly compromised immune systems. The outside trigger then cannot be any definitive cause. There may be potentially hundred others, what supposedly they ate over the last week or month and because most such individuals have been eating junk diets that are chemically polluted for decades if not their entire lives. Such totally fabricated stories, and one can tell they are manufactured just by the list of the institutional authorities quoted – the Mayo Clinic, the American Cancer Society, the CDC, the FDA (organizations controlled by huge corporate interests) are distributed to promote an agenda – to buttress processed, non-organically grown and pasteurized foods as healthy and safe – and thus not to support real health interests of the general public.

THE OFFICIAL LISTERIA STORY
The recent listeria outbreak in cantaloupes has been called the deadliest outbreak of food-related illness in more than a decade in the US. At least 16 deaths and 72 illnesses have been reported with this infection according to recent news reports.
Because symptoms of listeria infection can take weeks to become apparent, “we will see more cases likely through October,” FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg told the Associated Press.
PREVENTING LISTERIA
To prevent listeria infection, people should not try to wash any suspect cantaloupe because the bacteria can also spread to the inside of the fruit. The CDC rather recommends that consumers throw away the cantaloupes. If they are sure the cantaloupes are not from Jensen farms, they are supposedly OK to eat.
SPREAD OF LISTERIA
The affected cantaloupes — recalled by Jensen Farms on Sept. 14 — were shipped between July 29 and Sept. 10. The cantaloupes were shipped to 25 different states, but listeria cases have appeared elsewhere in many more states.
SYMPTOMS OF LISTERIA
But just what are the symptoms of listeria, and how dangerous is it?
Listeria infection is dangerous to pregnant women and people with impaired immune systems (such as elderly people, people with AIDS, people undergoing chemotherapy or organ-rejection medications, or people with diabetes or kidney disease). For people with weakened immune systems, listeria infection can even lead to pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis. If the infection reaches your nervous system, additional symptoms can include headache, convulsions, confusion and loss of balance. Babies can also become infected with listeria from the mother, which could lead to miscarriage or stillbirth, premature birth or a fatal infection after the baby is born, according to the Mayo Clinic. For babies, signs of listeria infection include fever, vomiting, low interest in being fed and irritability.
AVOIDING LISTERIA
The food-borne illness is most common in deli meats and other foods that have been improperly processed, milk products that were not pasteurized and produce that was grown with contaminated soil or manure. However, it can be killed by cooking the food or pasteurizing it.
The problem with listeria is that the bacteria isn’t killed by freezing or refrigeration. For many healthy people, symptoms are flu-like — fever, muscle aches, diarrhea and nausea — and can appear a few days after you’ve eaten the listeria-contaminated food, to a couple months after you’ve eaten it.
In the past listeria outbreaks have occurred in sprouts and in celery.

David Gumpert, author of popular blog The Complete Patient and forthcoming book Raw Milk Revolution: Behind America’s Emerging Battle Over Food Rights (Chelsea Green, Oct 2009), asks an important question: How much of the fear-mongering from the pro-pasteurization people is real, and how much is propaganda from Big Agribusiness? Gumpert says the anti-raw-milk campaign is just another governmental technique to sanitize the food supply—even in the face of ever-increasing rates of chronic disease like asthma, diabetes, and allergies.
Here are 10 things you should know about raw milk that the government won’t tell you:
Raw milk is healthier: Pasteurized milk is accused of causing everything from allergies to heart disease to cancer, but back in the day, these diseases were rare. In fact, clean raw milk from grass-fed cows is chock full of healthy amino acids and beneficial enzymes, and was used as a cure.
Raw milk does not make you sick: That is, if it is properly collected from cows fed good, clean grass. Grass-fed milk has natural antibiotic properties that help protect it from pathogenic bacteria. But it’s worth noting, if you’ve been using pasteurized dairy products, you might want to eat small amounts of yogurt or kefir for a week or so, for a dose of probiotics, just to be safe. I did, and it helped.
Not all raw milk is the same: The cow’s diet, how and where it’s raised, and how the milk is collected are all factors in the safety and quality of raw milk. Cows pastured on organic green grass produce milk with good health benefits. It’s good to know where your milk is coming from.
Pasteurization was instituted in the 1920s to combat TB, infant diarrhea, undulant fever and other diseases caused by poor animal nutrition and dirty production methods. But modern stainless steel tanks, milking machines, refrigerated trucks, and inspection are enough of a precaution, and pasteurization has become irrelevant.
Pasteurization destroys enzymes, diminishes vitamin content, kills beneficial bacteria, promotes pathogens and is associated with allergies, increased tooth decay, colic in infants, growth problems in children, osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease and cancer.
Calves fed pasteurized milk don’t do very well, and many die before maturity. Scary, considering the milk originally came from their mom.
Raw milk sours naturally but pasteurized milk turns putrid; processors must remove slime and pus from pasteurized milk by a process called centrifugal clarification. Gross.
Inspection of dairy herds for disease is not required for pasteurized milk. This means, pasteurization is used as a nifty way to wash away all forms of bad bacteria that are allowed to flourish freely before the process. Imagine that for a second.
Raw milk has more butterfat, which is rich in fatty acids that protect against disease and stimulate the immune system. Skim milk doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better for you, in other words.
Pasteurization laws favor large, industrialized dairy operations and push out small farmers. When farmers have the right to sell raw milk directly to their consumers, they can make a decent living even with a small number of cows. Support small farmers!

The book contains a potent reminder of the importance of understanding how your food is manufactured and processed. The label tells neither the whole story nor the whole truth. “Not from concentrate” does not mean less processed.“The technology of choice at the moment is aseptic storage, which involves stripping the juice of oxygen, a process known as “deaeration,” so it doesn’t oxidize in the million gallon tanks in which it can be kept for upwards of a year. When the juice is stripped of oxygen it is also stripped of flavor-providing chemicals. Juice companies therefore hire flavor and fragrance companies, the same ones that formulate perfumes for Dior and Calvin Klein, to engineer flavor packs to add back to the juice to make it taste fresh.” The reason you don’t see any mention on the label about added flavors is because these flavors are derived from orange essences and oils. However, the appearance of being natural doesn’t necessarily mean it is. As Hamilton states: “Those in the industry will tell you that the flavor packs, whether made for reconstituted or pasteurized orange juice, resemble nothing found in nature.” Industrial produced orange juice in North America tends to contain high amounts of ethyl butyrate, which is one of the most commonly used chemicals in both flavors and fragrances. Aside from being versatile in creating a number of different flavors, including orange, cherry, pineapple, mango, guava, and bubblegum, just to name a few, it’s also one of the least expensive. Other markets, such as the Mexican and Brazilian, tends to contain different chemicals, such as various decanals or terpene compounds.

Health Dangers of Excessive Fructose Consumption
Not only will fructose raise your insulin to high levels, it also metabolizes differently from other sugars and in a way togreatly promote chronic diseases. According to researchers like Dr. Robert Lustig, and Dr. Richard Johnson, we know that:
Fructose metabolized into fat.
Fructose consumption leads to weight gains as it turns off your body’s appetite-control system. Fructose does not appropriately stimulate insulin, which in turn does not suppress ghrelin (the “hunger hormone”) and doesn’t stimulate leptin (the “satiety hormone”), which together result in your eating more and developing insulin resistance. It decreased HDL, increased LDL, elevated triglycerides, elevated blood sugar, and high blood pressure—i.e., classic metabolic syndrome. For example, in one study, eating fructose raised triglyceride levels by 32 percent in men.
Fructose consumption leads to insulin resistance, which is not only an underlying factor of type 2 diabetes and heart disease, but also many cancers.
Fructose contributes to the development of gout by increasing the levels of uric acid in your body. In one study, published last year, women who drank 12 ounces or more of orange juice a day doubled their risk of gout, and those who drank just six ounces of juice per day still increased their risk by 41 percent. A similar study on men was published in 2008. In that study, men who drank two or more sugary soft drinks a day had an 85 percent higher risk of gout than those who drank less than one a month. Fruit juice and fructose-rich fruits such as oranges and apples also increased the risk.
It is thus important to watch the extent of fructose consumption, even with whole fruits, and not just processed juices.

According to recent research, uric acid in the body appears to increase with fructose consumption and takes a lead role in creating major health problems – especially when it reaches levels of 5.5 mg per dl or higher in your body. At this level, uric acid is associated with an increased risk for developing high blood pressure, as well as diabetes, obesity and kidney disease. He believes the ideal range for uric acid lies between 3 to 5.5 mg per dl, so getting your uric acid levels tested can further help you determine just how strict you need to be with limiting your fructose consumption.

Why these individuals represent truly BAD government
Here are the top government agents involved in this raid. It’s also worth noting that most of them have been waging a long-term WAR against raw milk over the past several years. Many of these government agents are the very same people responsible for campaigns of threats and intimidation against other raw dairy operations, both in California and around the country.

(Healingtalks) The life force in our foods is best carried in the fluids of living plants and animals, including in our own bloodstream. This is because at the root foundation of life is “consciousness” – the universal relationship of connection” which also makes living nature ultimately One. The opposite of connection is separation. Only in fluids do separate drops of liquid connect optimally connected as One. This is why fluids physically display how consciousness, at the root of life, works. It is via liquids, from living sources, the life is best carried into and throughout our bodies. However, the rest of the universe also wants that same connected living energy, so once a liquid is extracted and exposed it spoils most quickly of all foods. The truth about pasteurization is that it kills this same living force in order to make a more commercially viable product. Louis Pasteur may have had something else in mind when he came up with the process of pasteurization back in the 1880′s (said to be created for purposes of preventing sickness from consumption of milk and wine).
But today, past all the government and industry lies and deceptions, the process of pasteurization is solely for killing the life force (enzymes) in a living food.
Killing Our Foods Living Enzymes
Nature puts enzymes in all raw and living foods, including milk. Certain enzymes are responsible for causing the food to naturally spoil or go bad. This is why you see fruit naturally fall from a tree in Nature when unpicked. The fruit will automatically spoil, shrivel up, and fall to the Earth and biodegrade.
Raw milk will naturally spoil after a few days. So will orange juice. So how do companies get milk and orange juice and other beverages to remain unspoiled in caskets (cans, jars, boxes, etc.) for periods of weeks and months at a time?
Again, pasteurization!
Pasteurizing the food (or beverage) kills the enzymes, including those that cause spoiling. Then, so that the food won’t spoil, preservatives are added to preserve the shelf life of the so-called food. Now the food (beverage) can sit on a supercasket, oops, I mean ‘supermarket,’ shelf for a few weeks if necessary and no one has to worry about the product spoiling.
The simple fact that preservatives are added to certain foods and beverages should let us know that the thing that contains preservatives and that we are about to consume, is DEAD! After all, you only preserve that which is dead, right? Of course? You don’t have to preserve that which is alive. Dead human bodies are preserved with embalming fluid (formaldehyde) to keep them from spoiling (rotting, decaying) before the funeral. Well, when you add preservatives to food and beverages, you’re basically embalming the thing (food) because it too is dead. Only dead things are embalmed (preserved).

Now you know that that pasteurized milk (liquidized cow snot and pus) and fruit juice (i.e. orange juice, apple juice) in your fridge is not pasteurized to kill bacteria, but to keep it in a casket (carton) for a few weeks for purposes of profit.
Truth About Flash Pasteurized
That ‘flash pasteurized’ orange juice or apple juice is flash pasteurized to keep the dead juice in the casket (jar or carton) for a few weeks as well.
Flash pasteurized is nothing but a fancy name that still implies the thing has been heated up to kill enzymes or enzymatic activity in it. Pasteurization has to be at least 145 degrees to be effective but living foods are killed at temperatures beyond 118 degrees, so 145 degrees clearly kills all life in a natural food, be it fruit, vegetables, or animal milk (which humans really should not be drinking by the way).
Truth About UHT – Ultra High Temperature Milk
And what about UHT (ultra-high-temperature) milk?
This stuff is completely DEAD!
UHT milk is sold off the shelf at room temperature. However, UHT milk is ultra-pasteurized at 280 degrees. Now you know anything processed with this much heat is really dead. This is why UHT milk will keep up to six months unrefrigerated.
Like I tell people: consumption of processed foods will most certainly process you in the process of unwisely consuming them, at least in the long run.
To process means ‘to change’ and you will most certainly change (for the worse) from consuming all this processed so-called food (and beverage) out here today.
Pasteurization Equals Dead Products
Pasteurization is a code word for ‘dead products.’
Don’t be fooled by such terms (usually serving as suffixes) such as ‘ultra’ and ‘flash.’ If the word ‘pasteurization’ follows these terms, it still denotes pasteurization has taken place, and thus the killing of the thing food has also taken place.
Ultra simply means ‘high high’ and ‘flash’ means ‘quickly processed.”
Remember people in the United States are controlled with and by words. Americans are a word-controlled people and this is the major reason why Americans are kept dumb downed, functioning mentally on a 2nd grade level as far as reading, comprehension, and communicating. As our bones die, so also do our arteries fed with dead liquids rather than living food. (Healingtalks) Back in April of 2010 the FDA conducted an armed pre-dawn raid on a gentle Amish farmer selling his raw milk from a couple dozen cows and to a few faithful customers. This, and dozens of similar incidences, have set the stage for a more recent and second armed raid of Rawesome Foods in Venice California where, for the first time, the government upped the ante. Not only did the FDA, in a joint raid with other corrupt government agencies, thwart the sale of raw milk and confiscate the proprietors’ inventory and cash, they now want to criminalize the sale of raw milk with multiple pending felony charges – and in a state where raw milk is legal to sell!
This is a critical turning point in the whole establishment of a food police state, sending a very frightening, chilling message to all other raw milk farms, distributors and retailers in our entire nation and all along our food chain supply channels.
All the while the government is becoming ever more militant in its campaign and armed raids on small local farmers. According to Gary Cox of the Farm-To-Consumer Legal Defense Fund: “I’ve seen numerous search warrants being carried out; I’ve even seen it where a SWAT team would come into a family’s home in Northern Ohio and hold the family including the children at gunpoint for six hours while the agents searched the home for food,” says Gary.
The incident with the gentle Amish farmer in Pennsylvania, and actually dozens of others, have long set the stage for the creation of a heinous “food police state” and this has been brewing for over two decades – at least since the FDA regulatory ban of raw milk interstate sales in the late 1980′s
Every reader should be informed, alerted and rightly alarmed that this process is now accelerating.
The sample Amish incident, preceded by a year and a half sting operation, ended in a lawsuit in 2011 attempting to prevent the Amish farmer from selling his raw milk to his small faithful cadre of customers across state lines.
PA Undercover Raw Milk Sting
The agency began its investigation of Mr. Daniel Allgyer’s farm (Rainbow Acres Farm in Kinzers, PA) in 2009. This was when an undercover FDA agent in Baltimore placed an order under an assumed name to sign up for the Yahoo user group tied to Allgyer’s Rainbow Acres.
His milk orders went to a residence in Maryland where the milk could be picked up.
By crossing state lines the milk became part of “interstate commerce” and thus presumably subject to the FDA’s regulatory ban on the sales of raw milk. The court papers noted that the jugs of milk were not labeled – forming a second violation of FDA regulations. FDA investigators then came to the farm in February 2010, when Mr. Allgyer turned them away from his farm.
The armed encounter and harassment wasdocumented by Ellen Marie, also privately interviewing the Allgyer’s family about the trespassing involved. She reported that other dairy farms and their families in the area had similarly been subjected to FDA intimidation. In April the FDA sent a warning letter from the Philadelphia district, signed by Kirk Sooter, the director, telling Allgyer to essentially cease and desist or they might face an injunction as well as the seizure of his property. This warning letter can be found on the FDA website.
How FDA Got Such Orwellian/Nazi Police State Powers
The FDA now has immensely expanded new powers due to the so-called Food Safety and Modernization Act approved by Congress last year and signed by President Obama in January, 2011.
Starting July 3, 2011 the agency gained the ability to confiscate any food at any farm that it deems s0-called “unsafe or mislabeled.”
This is what has tipped the scale for far more aggressive and unconstitutional FDA actions – in the spirit of Bush’s Patriot Act. It essentially treats farmers in the same way terrorists might be treated in the Patriot Act, and with no rights at detention centers across the world.
The Saga Continues
FDA agents thus returned in April of 2010 to Allgyer’s farm with a warrant submitted by Joshua Schafer, the FDA investigator) and then U.S. marshals and a state police trooper made apre-dawn raw milk raid (at 5 am) but which the FDA called a “lawful inspection.”
The FDA claimed they spotted coolers labeled with Maryland town names, and with dairy products. The inspection again led to a letter dated 04/20/2010 from FDA informing Mr. Allgyer that he had to stop selling across state lines.
Mr, Allgyer instead formed a private club where members could be shareholders in the farm’s produce, paying only for the farmer’s labor. This was to avoid the FDA’s regulation of “commerce.” The FDA investigators continued to take shipments and in April of 2011 week filed suit in Federal Court to stop Allgyer’s sale of raw milk.
The FDA this year filed for a legal injunction against Allgyer and accused him of “contributing to the introduction, transmission, or spread of communicable diseases” at his farm where he tends just three dozen cows and sells their raw milk to a very small buyers’ club in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
For decades there has never been any real evidence whatsoever that raw-milk forms a health hazard.
Not an Isolated Incidence and Prelude to Criminalizing
There is alist available on the Web of 20 small farms and enterprises, especially dairy farms and their distributors, who have been raided by federal agents since 2004 and in eight different states in US. This includes a previous gunpoint raid on Rawesome Foods in 2010. likewise confiscating their property. The list also gives ample details of many other unconstitutional, horrific and intimidating actions of the FDA.
Interestingly the initial seller of raw milk on that list is Organic Pastures Dairy, raided in the spring of 2004. At the time the agents even illegally went through customer files and photographed them.
Organic pastures is no small operation to be targeted. In fact, it is the largest dairy operation subject to FDA intimidation. Mark McAfee, owner of Organic Pastures Dairy in Fresno, sells raw milk to 50,000 customers a week and through 400 stores in the Bay Area and the rest of the state. He endured a long undercover investigation. All the while “they refuse to acknowledge raw milk can be done in a safe manner,” McAfee stated. “The state of California is very effectively doing that… There is no recorded evidence anywhere, any place – the Centers for Disease Control, the Food and Drug Administration, anybody – that shows anybody has ever died from raw milk in California.”
What’s Really Behind the Raw Milk Suppression – $$$
Despite raw milk’s tiny market share, McAfee (owner of Organic Pastures Dairies) stated that milk processors are behind efforts to ban raw milk because they see the product as a competitive threat. He said demand for pasteurized milk is falling about 1 percent a year, and farmers can earn as much as 10 times more for raw milk than they do selling to processors. The processors then denature the milk via pasteurization and in order to extend shelf-life. They don’t want the public to know they are denaturing the milk to create an inferior product because it would be a death-knoll and financial disaster.
Furthermore when milk is in the raw state, not all the milk is the same, pooled from different farms. Some of the milk will lose its fresh taste more quickly than others – sometimes in as little as a week. Unlike eggs, meat and fish, dairy milk can’t be refrigerated or frozen for months without adulterating its taste. Without pasteurization of pooled milk, there is a loss of control of shelf-life. This equates to a loss of control of the market as such.
Pasteurization is critically necessary and must be justified at all costs, and through all possible info-wars or mind-deceits of the public – even if it means fabricating health scares or all kinds of fear-mongering about raw milk… all of which is scientifically indefensible. The very survival of large dairies depends on maintaining this consumer infowar deceit. Thus they solicit corrupt government and scientific support.
A careful study of pasteurization shows it truly denatures the milk.
It makes milk significantly deficient. Pasteurized dairy consumption leads to long-term arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis and arthritis, all of which are among the most common diseases in aging dairy farmers who drink pasteurized milk for decades. Among farming populations, dairy farmers have the highest rates of arthritis.
There is also short-term allergenic or lactose-intolerance reactions to pasteurized milk. This is because the pasteurized milk simply becomes heat-harmed and dead food. Our bodies require living foods for optimal health. Like chemically-preserved staples deadened to increase shelf-life, the end result is the true health-hazard at the altar of making more money.
If the public knew all of this, it would fatally threaten billions of dollars of conventional dairy sales. These are maintained only via this huge market deceptions. In the meantime, illnesses like arteriosclerosis, osteoporosis and arthritis are pandemic. Statistics show these three ailments affect literally hundreds of millions of people over the age of 50, which then helps allopathic medical and pharmaceutical industries thrive.
Dairy Industry’s Thrust Toward Total Market Control
“The fluid milk markets are already dying on the vine because people can’t digest , it’s too allergenic and it’s got lactose intolerance,” McAfee continued by saying “Raw milk is an out-of-control milk. It’s by the farmer directly to the consumer, so all the dairy industry people are upset that they are losing control of the market.”
Reactions to the Raw Milk Sting
Coming back to our example of the Pennsylvania-Amish dairy sting operation by the FDA, one of the customers, Liz Reitzig, president of the Maryland Independent Consumers and Farmers Association, said she started looking into raw milk because her oldest daughter showed signs of not tolerating pasteurized milk. Thus she sought out what they call “cow sharing” or where a group of people buy shares in owning a cow, and pay a farmer to board and milk the cow.
But Maryland outlawed that practice and so she turned to Mr. Allgyer’s farm.
“We like the way they farm, we love their product, it’s super-high-quality, they’re wonderful. It’s just a wonderful arrangement,” she said. ” The FDA really has no idea what they’re talking about when they’re talking about fresh milk. They have no concept – they really don’t understand what it’s like for people like me who have friends and family who can’t drink conventional milk,” Ms. Reitzig said.
Other customers were likewise furious, especially those from the District of Columbia and Maryland.
“I look at this as the FDA is in cahoots with the large milk producers,” said Karin Edgett, a D.C. resident who buys directly from Rainbow Acres. “I don’t want the FDA and my tax dollars to go to shut down a farm that hasn’t had any complaints against it. They’re producing good food, and the consumers are extremely happy with it.”

On May 11, Rep. Ron Paul, Texas Republican, introduced H.R. 1830, the Unpasteurized Milk Bill, which would end the FDA’s ban and permit the sale of raw milk across state lines. This would reverse the mandate given in 1987 FDA regulation to ban interstate commerce in raw milk.
Suit Against FDA in Iowa
Pete Kennedy, president of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, said undercover stings are a matter of course. “It happens quite a bit. It’s almost like they treat raw milk as crack. It happened in a number of states, and at the federal level,” he said. His organization has now sued to try to halt FDA enforcement, and the case is pending in federal court in Iowa.

The term “Farmageddon” refers to the Farmageddon movie, which documents much of the current assaults on farms and food producers by the U.S. federal government. The FDA, in particular, is now waging all-out war against farmers and raw dairy producers, spending millions of dollars on secret investigations, armed raids and the prosecution of “criminals” (raw dairy farmers).
The #rawesome term refers to the recent armed raids on Rawesome Foods, conducted by the FDA, CDC and LA County Sheriff’s office, which saw government thugs pouring raw milk down the drain, destroying cheese, confiscating watermelons and mangos, then arresting and charging the owner with felony crimes. A nearby farm was also raided at gunpoint. A representative of the Weston A. Price Foundation was also arrested and charged with conspiracy for plotting to promote unpasteurized milk.

(Healingtalks) Thanks to a recent survey by the Centers for Disease control, we have the numbers to determine the statistical safety of drinking raw milk. Turns out, raw milk really is safer than just about any other food out there — including spinach, peanut butter, and eggs. The risk of contracting an illness from contaminated raw milk is ridiculously tiny, particularly when you consider the amount of resources the federal government is pouring into undercover investigations of raw milk farmers, raids of buying clubs and co-ops, and creating an anti raw milk campaign.
For years, we’ve known exactly how many people in the U.S. get sick from drinking raw milk (an average of 42 per year). What’s been missing is the baseline — the number of raw milk drinkers in the U.S.
Government Data Supporting Raw Milk’s Safety
In 2007, the CDC conducted a survey to determine the number of raw milk drinkers.
“At last we have access to the numbers we need to determine the risk of consuming raw milk on a per-person basis,” says Sally Fallon Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation, a non-profit nutrition education foundation that provides information on the health benefits of raw, whole milk from pastured cows.
The key figure that permits a calculation of raw milk illnesses on a per-person basis comes from a 2007 Centers for Disease Control (CDC) FoodNet survey, which found that 3.04 percent of the population consumes raw milk, about 9.4 million people, based on the 2010 census. This number may in fact be larger in 2011 as raw milk is growing in popularity. For example, sales of raw milk increased 25 percent in California in 2010, while sales of pasteurized milk declined 3 percent.
Rarer than Rare Raw Milk-Tied Ailments
In addition, Dr. Beals has compiled published reports of illness attributed to raw milk from 1999 to 2010. During the eleven-year period, illnesses attributed to raw milk averaged 42 per year.
“Using government figures for foodborne illness for the entire population, Dr. Beals has shown that you are about thirty-five thousand times more likely to get sick from other foods than you are from raw milk,” says Fallon Morell. “And with good management practices in small grass-based dairies offering fresh unprocessed whole milk for direct human consumption, we may be able to reduce the risk even further.”
“It is irresponsible for senior national government officials to oppose raw milk, claiming that it is inherently hazardous,” says Dr. Beals. “There is no justification for opposing the sale of raw milk or warning against its inclusion in the diets of children and adults.”
FDA’s Hidden Agenda and Distortions
According to Pete Kennedy, president of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, “Where raw milk is concerned, the FDA has an agenda that is not about protecting the public health. They want to restrict and discourage the sale of unprocessed dairy products. This will have the effect of denying freedom of choice.” In short, there are economic to support large corporate dairy operations tied to GMO feeding lots, and which has nothing to do with real health reasons.
“Every time there is a possible connection between illness and raw milk, government officials issue dire press releases and call for bans on raw milk sales,” says Fallon Morell. “However, these numbers fail to justify the government opposition and prove what we’ve known all along, that raw milk is a safe and healthy food.”
Raw Milk Is Actually Super Safe and Healthier
Raw milk is not just SAFE but SAFER. Put cows out to pasture. Let them eat rapidly growing green grasses. Keep milking facilities well-cleaned and sanitized. Use modern refrigeration and stainless steel holding tanks. Keep milk cold while transporting it. If you choose to drink raw milk, only drink this “good stuff.”
Don’t drink raw milk that’s been intended for pasteurization (this usually comes from confinement dairies, and isn’t particularly healthful or clean.) Why is milk then pasteurized? Perhaps to protect the interests of large non-organic corporate dairies have pus-filled milk that need to be neutralized as well as stored for long periods of time or while in transit for thousands of miles. According to Wikipedia, pasteurization is the main means to extend shelf-life. The bottom-line then is greater profits and not the health of consumers. Usually chemicals denature and devitalize food to create longer shelf-life. With milk, just high-heat is enough.
The only important missing ingredient is to convince consumers to buy this devitalized food so that the Corporate dairies continue to make higher profit margins.
Local organic dairies don’t so need to so deaden their food as the food is delivered virtually “straight from the cow, goat or sheep.” The profit motive can then take a second place to providing what is honestly healthiest for their customers.
How Best To Deceive the Public
So what’s the absolute best way to maintain the fraud perpetrated by large dairies onto their consumers that milk needs to be pasteurized to be safe.

Protesters outside the Los Angeles Courthouse on Thursday denounced the police’s moves against Rawesome, which offers especially raw milk products. Thanks to the FDA, the proprietors face multiple felony charges for selling the healthiest on the planet!

Raw food enthusiasts fit right in here, in the earthy, health-conscious beach communities of Venice and Santa Monica, along with the farmers’ markets, health food stores and vegan restaurants.
But this week, the police cleared the shelves of Rawesome, an establishment in Venice Beach, loading $70,000 of raw, organic produce and dairy products on the back of a flatbed truck.
And then, on Thursday, James Stewart, the proprietor, was arraigned on charges of illegally making, improperly labeling and illegally selling raw milk products, as well as other charges related to Rawesome’s operations. Two farmers who work with Rawesome were also named in the district attorney’s complaint.
Though it is legal to sell unpasteurized milk products in California, Rawesome, which has operated in Venice for more than six years, never obtained a license to do so — or, indeed, any type of business license.
Lela Buttery, a trustee at Rawesome, said it had no license because it was not a store. Instead, she called it a “club.” Club members paid an annual fee, which allowed them to peruse the produce, milk products and honey on Rawesome’s shelves, which they paid for — $7 for a pint of raw goat’s milk — to cover the cost of production. Members also signed waivers to signal they understood the risks of consuming raw food.
Rawesome is staffed by volunteers, who take home food for their efforts, and no one, Ms. Buttery said, is making money from his or her work there.
The raid on Rawesome has riled people here who say that unpasteurized milk is safer and healthier. About 150 raw food advocates gathered at the Los Angeles County Courthouse on Thursday to oppose the crackdown.
“It’s our right to choose what we want to put in our bodies,” Ms. Buttery said. “When members filled out an application, they were saying they wanted natural bacteria in their systems. We don’t want labeling. We don’t want animals full of antibiotics.”
Siobhan DeLancey, a spokeswoman for the federal Food and Drug Administration, which participated in the investigation of Rawesome, said the administration banned the interstate sale of raw milk products because they could be dangerous for those with compromised immune systems.
“Our biggest concern is really with children, because pathogens that can be in raw milk can be extremely dangerous for the classically at-risk,” she said. “We’ve seen people wind up as paraplegics.”
But raw food enthusiasts are convinced of raw milk’s healthfulness — and still have plenty of options around here.
“I drink it all the time,” said Laura Avery, who runs a farmers’ market in Santa Monica where raw milk products are sold. “I believe it’s a safer product.”

A multi-agency SWAT-style armed raid was conducted this morning by helmet-wearing, gun-carrying enforcement agents from the LA County Sheriff’s Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control). Rawesome Foods, a private buying club offering wholesome, natural raw milk and raw cheese products (among other wholesome foods) is founded by James Stewart, a pioneer in bringing wholesome raw foods directly to consumers through a buying club. James was followed from his private residence by law enforcement, and when he entered his store, the raid was launched.
Law enforcement demanded that all customers (members) of the store vacate the premises, then they demanded to know how much cash James had at the store. When James explained the amount of cash he had at the store — which is used to purchase product for selling there — agents demanded to know why he had such an amount of cash and where it came from.
James was handcuffed, was never read his rights and was stuffed into an unmarked car. While agents said they would leave behind a warrant, no one has yet had any opportunity to even see if such a warrant exists or if it is a complete warrant.

One of the most common questions I’m asked concerns my recommendations for milk or milk alternatives. My answer on this question has evolved over the years, so today, I’ll share my latest preferences for milk and milk-like beverages.
Thumbs down: Soy milk
A few years ago, I recommended soy milk as a natural alternative to cow’s milk. But since then, far better alternatives have emerged (see below). Also, more information has appeared regarding the environmental impact of soybean farming (the Amazon rainforest is being devastated by clear cutting to create soybean agricultural lands) as well as the frightening fact that most soybeans grown today are genetically modified (GMO) varieties.
On top of this, most popular soy milk brands (I won’t name names, but these are likely the ones in your grocery store) have been bought out by big, profit-seeking food and beverage corporations, and as a result, they’ve been sugared up and made nutritionally inferior. Check the ingredients on “plain” soy milk the next time you’re at the store: It’s loaded with sugar!
Without question, most soy milk has become too mainstream, too sugary and too much controlled by the same food and beverage giants that are still manufacturing and marketing other products that promote degenerative disease. Because of these reasons, I no longer recommend soy milk (unless you make it yourself or get it from a small, truly natural company).
Thumbs down: Processed cow’s milk
I’m also not thrilled about processed milk from cows. By “processed,” I mean homogenized and pasteurized. The pasteurization kills all the beneficial microorganisms, and homogenization artificially modifies dairy fats in a way that ultimately harms the human cardiovascular system when consumed. Processed “mainstream” milk is also taken from dairy cows pumped up with antibiotics, rBGH (Bovine Growth Hormone) and usually treated very poorly in terms of ethics. Even the popular brands showing happy cows and claiming to be organic are under intense fire by the Organic Consumers Association (www.OrganicConsumers.org) for exploiting certain loopholes that allow non-organic cows to be suddenly considered “organic” on the day they’re giving milk.
Processed cow’s milk is bad for your health and bad for the cows who give it. It’s great for corporate profits, however, and that’s why milk continues to be so heavily marketed as a nutritional beverage. They’ve even managed to so strongly influence the USDA that the latest dietary recommendations by this government agency essentially recommend that everyone should drink more milk. And it’s no surprise that infant formula manufacturers have, for decades, tried to convince nutritionally ignorant mothers that cow’s milk is better for their baby than human breast milk. (An odd idea, isn’t it?)
Thumbs up: Raw milk
Over the last two years, I’ve become a proponent of raw milk (especially raw fermented milk, see below). Raw goat’s milk is my personal recommendation, but even raw cow’s milk has merit. What’s so good about raw milk? Because it’s not homogenized or pasteurized, it’s nutritionally superior to dead, cooked milk. Raw milk seems to be far easier to digest, and it contains living bacteria cultures that enhance digestion and even soothe the digestive tract.
It’s no surprise, then, that raw milk is under attack by both federal regulators and some members of the processed milk industry. They don’t want people to find a “superior” milk that isn’t as profitable to sell (because it has reduced shelf life), so they’re trying to destroy the raw milk market and limit consumer choice to processed, dead milk. (The same is true in the almond industry, where the Almond Board of California is now trying to irradiate all almonds grown in the state, yet have them labeled as “raw” even when they’re dead.)
This attack on raw milk is dressed up to look like a public safety concern. Raw milk is dangerous, regulators claim, because the live cultures might get contaminated with unfriendly bacteria and harm someone. The preferred alternative, it seems, is to kill all the food so that it harms everyone equally.
In terms of choosing raw milk, the typical choices are raw cow’s milk and raw goat’s milk. Raw goat’s milk is more compatible with human nutritional needs (and is especially beneficial to infants when mother’s milk isn’t available), but it has a stronger taste that not everyone enjoys. I encourage you to try both raw goat’s milk and raw cow’s milk, then decide what you like best. The proteins in the goat’s milk are, no doubt, easier for humans to digest.
Thumbs way up: Fermented raw milk
The best dairy beverage for your health is, in my opinion, fermented raw milk. If you take raw milk and inoculate it with bacterial cultures, then let it sit for a day or two, you end up with a living, predigested, nutritionally superior beverage that’s so packed with life it’s actually fizzy (carbonated due to the off-gassing of bacteria) when you make it yourself at home.
One form of this fermented milk is called Kefir. It’s an incredible beverage when you make it yourself. The store-bought kefir just isn’t the same because it’s usually dead, flat and pasteurized. But home-made kefir is something else entirely! It’s alive, energetic and completely natural.
I was recently treated to some kefir made from raw goat’s milk by a raw foods chef in Tucson — a man I hope to feature on NaturalNews videos later this year. He makes kefir in jars on his kitchen countertop, using a kefir culture that’s been passed down from one raw foodist to another for years… maybe even decades. It contained no sweeteners or additives of any kind; just raw goat’s milk cultured with bacteria. After drinking it, I noticed an immediate energetic difference, and in the days that followed, I was amazed at the therapeutic effect on my digestive and elimination processes. Since then, I’ve really upped my intake of fermented foods in general.
Store-bought kefir is tricky. Definitely avoid non-organic kefir of any kind, and I strongly recommend that even when you buy organic kefir, avoid products made with added sugars. This is a fermented beverage, not ice cream. Don’t think it’s supposed to taste like a milkshake. It’s a slightly bitter beverage when you drink it plain, but that’s what kefir is supposed to be.
Thumbs way up: Raw almond milk
Another current favorite at my house is raw almond milk. It’s made from raw, soaked almonds, water, vanilla and a pinch of sea salt. I’ve posted a video on how to make this yourself using a Vita-Mix. (Click here to see the video.)
Raw almond milk is both delicious and nutritious. While it doesn’t have the protein content of animal milk, it’s rich in plant-based fats and various anti-cancer phytonutrients. Once you make a batch, you’ll need to drink it within a day or two, since it tends to sour very quickly (it’s alive, raw and nutritious, obviously), but I’ve found that you can preserve it in the refrigerator for several days longer by adding a couple of drops of food-grade hydrogen peroxide.
Many raw food proponents are now drinking a combination of raw almond milk and raw goat’s milk kefir. That’s a combination I’m enjoying, too. It’s good to have a balance of both plant and animal-based milks, but only if they’re from ethically treated, naturally raised animals who are not exposed to antibiotics, toxic chemicals or conventional veterinary care (which is all based on chemicals, just like human health care).
Mike’s Milk Matrix
Okay, here’s the low down on milk products and milk alternatives as I see it:
Soy milk: Not recommended. Too many GMO soybeans, bad environmental impact and some possible undesirable estrogen effects. The isoflavones are good for preventing cancer, however.
Processed cow’s milk: It’s just gross. Homogenized, pasteurized, milked from unhealthy cows and containing alarmingly high levels of pus, this liquid is nothing less than frightening. Flee it.
Raw cow’s milk (organic): This is an acceptable dairy beverage. If it’s from healthy cows treated with kindness and good nutrition, this raw beverage is far better than processed cow’s milk.
Row goat’s milk (organic): Even better than raw cow’s milk, since the goat’s milk is easier to digest and more compatible with human nutritional needs.
Fermented milk from cows or goats (organic Kefir): A great choice! It’s alive, nutritious and great for digestive health. Make it yourself for best results. If you buy it, avoid the sugared-up kefir products in the store.
