Alzeheimer's disease

Natural Ways To

Prevent and Treat

Alzheimer’s

Nathan Batalion, Global Health Activist, Healingtalks Editor

Introduction

(Healingtalks) This post is about the utter desperation and frustration in modern medicine when dealing with Alzheimer’s disease, its treatment and prevention. Nothing allopathic or drug-wise seems to work.

Even Nobel Laureates in physics, chemistry and medicine fall prey. No one knows how to stop this epidemic, at least no one who follows conventional routes.

Not understanding the essential nature of consciousness

The real and taproot problem is that modern science has almost no understanding of the essential nature of consciousness (see our many articles on this subject) and thus is lost. If they understand what is consciousness they would advocate certain naturopathic or natural approaches that would bankrupt Big Pharm that preys on patients who begin to lose their vital powers.

What is consciousness?

One of the half dozen or so greatest insights of my life was the discovery of the taproot nature of consciousness. It forms “a universal relationship of connection in nature, the principle of connection itself, and the foundation of nature’s oneness.” Western civilization has a different dominant conception of that oneness, and of the essence of nature which drives allopathic medicine. It was outlined and promoted by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century, who himself died with schizophrenia and dementia – which is hugely telling. That vision postures mathematics, the highest abstractions of how to separate all elements of consciousness – and which guides the development of the science of chemistry and thus the designs of drugs. The deep insight of what really is consciousness led me to abandon the road of allopathic medicine – the disciple that drugs patients in nursing homes until they walk the halls like zombies. For the mathematical order that designs drugs is the polar opposite of what supports consciousness, and as not only the essence of nature but of our lives. It is what holds us together and connects memories to each other.

The best way thus to prevent Alzheimer’s disease is through

  • An organic, whole, living foods diet – a natural diet that avoids synthetic chemical additives.
  •  Some consistent programs of whole body detoxification (including avoiding drugs, vaccinations, GMO foods, radiation, non-emergency surgery, essentially avoiding your allopathic doctor’s main protocols), and
  • Regular exercise and
  • Meditations/Mind-body work

What prevents and cures Alzheimer’s undermines so much of modern medicine that the solutions and the finding of solutions cannot come from within that conventional domain.

Fluoride Damages Brain

SOURCE NYS Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation

“The prolonged ingestion of fluoride may cause significant damage to health and particularly to the nervous system,” concludes a review of studies by researchers Valdez-Jimenez, et al. published in Neurologia (June 2011), reports New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation, Inc. (NYSCOF).

The research team reports, “It is important to be aware of this serious problem and avoid the use of toothpaste and items that contain fluoride, particularly in children as they are more susceptible to the toxic effects of fluoride.” (1)

“Fluoride can be toxic by ingesting one part per million (ppm), and the effects are not immediate, as they can take 20 years or more to become evident,” they write.

Most fluoridating U.S. public drinking water suppliers add fluoride chemicals to deliver 1 ppm fluoride (equal to about 1 milligram per quart) intending to benefit teeth and not to purify the water.

“Fluoridation clearly jeopardizes our children and must be stopped,” says attorney Paul Beeber, President, NYSCOF.  ”We can actually see how fluoride has damaged children’s teeth with dental fluorosis; but we can’t see the harm it’s doing to their brains and other organs. No U.S. researcher is even looking,” says Beeber.

Valdez-Jimenez, et al. describe studies that show fluoride induces changes in the brain’s physical structure and biochemistry which affects the neurological  and mental development of individuals including cognitive processes, such as learning and memory.

“Fluoride is capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier, which may cause biochemical and functional changes in the nervous system during pregnancy, since the fluoride accumulates in brain tissue before birth,” they write.*

Animal studies show fluoride’s toxic brain effects include classic brain abnormalities found in patients with Alzheimer’s disease, Valdez-Jimenez’s team reports.

A different research team (Tang et al.) reported in 2008 that “A qualitative review of the studies found a consistent and strong association between the exposure to fluoride and low IQ.” (Biological Trace Element Research)  (2)

In 2006, the U.S. National Research Council’s (NRC) expert fluoride panel reviewed fluoride toxicology and concluded, “It’s apparent that fluorides have the ability to interfere with the functions of the brain.” And, “Fluorides also increase the production of free radicals in the brain through several different biological pathways. These changes have a bearing on the possibility that fluorides act to increase the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease.” (3)

On April 12, 2010, Time magazine listed fluoride as one of the “Top Ten Common Household Toxins” and described fluoride as both “neurotoxic and potentially tumorigenic if swallowed.” (4)

Phyllis Mullenix, Ph.D., was the first U.S. scientist to find evidence that fluoride damages the brain. She published her animal study in a respected peer-reviewed scientific journal in 1995 (5) and then was fired for doing so.(6)

Vyvyan Howard, M.D., Ph.D., a prominent fetal toxicologist and past-President of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment, said that current brain/fluoride research convinces him that we should stop water fluoridation.

Many communities have stopped or rejected fluoridation in the past several years  – the most recent is Fairbanks, Alaska.  This year, seven New York City Council Members co-sponsored legislation to stop fluoridation in NYC

Fighting Alzheimer’s

Naturally Is Possible

Nathan Batalion, Global Health Activist, Healing Talks Editor

(Healingtalks) Alzheimer’s disease first manifests with a loss of short-term memory. It soon thereafter exhibits a fading of long-term memory as well. Can we effectively fight Alzheimer’s or should we just give in?

Treating Alzheimer’s naturally

On this subject I am strongly believe that this terrible ailment of Alzheimer’s can be treated  naturally.  Drug attempts are wholesale failing, despite billions spent on research. At the same time Alzheimer’s can be avoided, healed and even reversed by non-drug means. It takes a special knowledge to reverse Alzheimer’s effectively. See related articles below on this subject.

As in fighting any chronic illness, a strongly positive attitude and outlook is essential. You can greatly exercise the mind, when there is a will, and when natural therapies are in the background as support.

That is why I want to share this inspirational article with our readers. It appeared in the NY Times and is a  testament to opposite human potential. My own dad died with Alzheimer’s so this issue is always on the forefront of my mind.

I hope thus that our blog posts can inspire many to get out of further slippage of mental powers because the positive potentials of the human mind, and even its recovery from illness, are really awesome.

Half the Game Is Mental; So Is the Other Half

By JOHN BRANCH

HERSHEY, Pa. — There is a narrow little room inside the sprawling brick tangle of Hershey High School, not far from the dual smokestacks of the famous chocolate company. The door is not numbered and the walls have no windows. A teacher named Colette Silvestri spends Thursday afternoons inside, leading her team in practice.

She times a group of students staring hard at pieces of paper, or sometimes at a deck of cards or pictures of people they do not know.

The students memorize all they can, usually in 15-minute stretches of tedious silence. Then they spill their memory to recall, say, 120 random words in exact order. (That is roughly the length of this article to the end of this sentence, but with the words shuffled.) Or maybe they will try to match 159 unfamiliar names to photos of strangers, or recall 227 exact words, capital letters and punctuation of a poem read for the first time.

Those are, after all, the national records held by members of the Hershey memory team.

The 14th annual USA Memory Championship will take place at the Con Edison building at 14th Street and Irving Place in Manhattan on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m., and Hershey is the three-time defending champion in the high school division. Of the national records established in five major individual memory events, Hershey students hold three of them.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Tony Dottino, founder of the national competition.

In his mind, memory teams are a perfect fit for high schools, given the studying and testing students go through. But he is frustrated that there have never been more than four high school teams competing at the national championship.

There is no governing body tracking the number of teams nationwide, but the number is surely small. There are only a handful of teams that Mr. Dottino is aware of outside of the competition.

“I’m banging my head against the wall getting more kids involved,” he said.

For now, the model program can be found in central Pennsylvania, planted there by a corporate leadership consultant named Rhonda Hess. She became a judge for Mr. Dottino’s national competition in New York several years ago and returned home convinced that memory training would be a useful tool for students. She found a few willing teachers and started the Pennsylvania Memory Competition. The sixth annual contest, with three schools, was held in February.

Hershey won, beating its primary rival, Mechanicsburg Area High School (winner of the 2006 and 2007 national competitions) and Shippensburg Area High School. More impressive, two national records were set by a pair of 16-year-old Hershey juniors.

Kelly Kohlman, also involved in school plays and dance, perfectly recalled 227 words, capital letters and punctuation of a poem she had just read. Sophia Hu, who pole-vaults for the track team and is deaf, accurately wrote down 120 random words in their given order.

Ms. Silvestri, the school’s “gifted support teacher,” is the coach. She talks fast and laughs easily, spilling wisdom fit for inspirational posters.

“I’d rather put memory in a child than a computer,” she said.

Ms. Silvestri says she believes that memory training resurrects a holy trinity of old-school skills, countering the computer age with pencil and paper. It improves attention spans, penmanship and the ability to retain information, she says, all victims of technology.

“Go out and touch the flowers,” she said. “Digital’s great. But we’re human.”

It is a sharp change of philosophy for Ms. Silvestri, whose eclectic background includes opera and playwriting. She was a tech-savvy former committee researcher for the Pennsylvania Senate when she left to teach. She inherited the memory team at East Pennsboro High School in 2007, and members wore matching shirts that read: “Be nice to us. We never forget a face.”

She moved to Hershey High School for the next school year and practically pulled in a batch of potential mental athletes from the hallway. Her team has won every national championship since. Their trophies hold a prominent place at the school’s main entrance.

The first year, the team’s shirts read: “Don’t call us. We’ll recall you.”

“We had one that was … what was it?” Ms. Silvestri said.

“I can’t remember,” Vishnu Patel, a junior, said with a flat-line delivery.

Forgetfulness is a persistent, weary joke. Those on the memory team are constantly quizzed by others. Quick — what was the license plate number on that car? What did I wear yesterday? Teachers chide members for forgetting homework.

“We get the brunt of a lot of jokes,” said Vishnu, a cross-country runner and vice president of the junior class. “A lot of jokes.”

Laughter stops when other students see Vishnu or his teammates cram for, say, a vocabulary test.

“I can remember 50 or 60 definitions that day rather than study it,” Kabir Singh said. “I don’t encourage it. But it works for me.”

Ms. Silvestri’s squad now has 15 members. It is so deep that the national record holder for names and faces, the 16-year-old junior Hannan Kahn, will be an alternate in New York. Well-rounded skills across all events are at a premium in the team competition.

There is no magic to Hershey’s success. Ms. Silvestri’s room is lined with bookshelves filled with books, puzzles, games, even a bust of Archimedes. It is lighted softly by table lamps and decorated with posters. (“What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?” one says.)

Among the books are ones from the likes of the two-time national champion Ron White and Tony Buzan, founder of the world memory championships, featuring complicated strategies for improving memory. They are generally ignored. Hershey students have found their own way. Mostly, they practice at the table.

“I said: ‘We have technique books over here, we have brute force over here. What is your pleasure?’ ” Ms. Silvestri said of her early practices. “They chose brute force.”

On a recent Thursday afternoon Ms. Silvestri handed each member two decks of cards. One was shuffled thoroughly; the other was in perfect order, by suit and number, and set aside. Ms. Silvestri started a five-minute timer.

Vishnu moved to the floor. He laid out nine cards in a row, and studied them. After a few moments he laid out seven in a row. Subsequent rows were smaller, down to one, then they grew again. After a couple of minutes, all of the cards were displayed in the shape of an hourglass. He stared.

“I just lay them down and memorize their position,” he said.

The students have their own styles. Kabir finds it easier to remember numbers, so each card is converted into numeric code. Spades (with one stem) are teens, hearts (two halves) are 20s, clubs (three leaves) are 30s and diamonds (four points) are 40s. The three of hearts, then, is 23, and the eight of clubs is 38.

Kelly creates an elaborate, medieval story about kings and queens. Sophia’s mind translates each card into a word. She usually remembers most of the deck.

“I don’t have a story,” she said. “Just picture, picture, picture.”

But Sophia is best at random words. Starting with columns of 20 words, competitors have 15 minutes to memorize each column in order. Getting an entire column right — spelling matters — means 20 points. Missing anything means zero for that column.

After 15 minutes, Sophia and the others were handed blank sheets on which to unspool their short-term memory. She silently retold the picture stories that connected the words in her head. With few hesitations, she scrawled down six columns of words — 120 of them.

In the end, she made two minor mistakes that cost her points from two columns. She wrote “injury” instead of “injure,” and “deviant” instead of “deviate.” The rest were perfect. Eighty points.

The first time she practiced, a couple of years ago, Sophia got 40. Now she is the best in the country. That kind of progress, Ms. Silvestri said, is why the students do it — and why the teacher sits in the narrow little room after school, waiting, guiding, prodding, encouraging.

The payoff comes when the children look up and realize that something clicked, or when they beat their personal best, or — these days — set a national record.

“It’s when they ran someplace you didn’t know existed,” Ms. Silvestri said, and tears welled in her eyes. “They saw further than you. That’s cool.”

When Alzheimer’s

Turns Violent

Nathan Batalion, Global Health Activist, Healingtalks Editor

(Healingtalks) CNN Health asked the  iReport community how they experienced the challenges of Alzheimer’s. Some described being cursed, kicked, slapped and bitten by their loved ones, who cannot understand their actions because of their disease.

Extent of the problem

Alzheimer’s patients are often vulnerable and fragile and 5-10% of Alzheimer’s patients exhibit violent behavior. It’s unclear why the outbursts occur in certain patients and not in others. “If you don’t understand what’s happening because your brain is not functioning, it can be scary,” said Beth Kallmyer, senior director of constituent services at Alzheimer’s Association. “It’s normal human behavior. You might act out, become agitated, or violent if you don’t know what’s going on.” Caregivers are often overwhelmed. They may deny the problem, although aggressive behavior often reoccurs.

Examples of violent incidences

In 2008, a 74-year-old Kentucky woman with Alzheimer’s shot her daughter-in-law with a gun hidden in the home. A Connecticut woman was fatally beaten with a hammer by her 85-year-old husband, who had Alzheimer’s. The violent behavior leaves caregivers conflicted about their own safety.

Conventional Advice for Alzheimer’s caretakers

The conventional Alzheimer’s experts offered the following advice:

  • Back down. Most of the time, the incident escalates when the patient does not want to do tasks such as undress, brush teeth or bathe. “No one ever died from not bathing,” said Geri Hall, advanced practice nurse at the Banner Alzheimer’s Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. “Relax and calm down about it. If the patient means no, they mean no, and you have to heed that.” Patients lose their ability to reason, so don’t try to negotiate. Try again later when the person’s mood has improved.
  •  When the patient is upset, apologize — even when it’s not your fault. “You apologize because the patient is upset,” Hall said. Using this strategy will buy you time and good will. Don’t argue with an Alzheimer’s patient, because you can’t win. Don’t physically force the person to do anything, she warned. This could worsen the situation and possibly injure all parties involved.
  • When the patient becomes agitated, change the topic. Move to another room to see the birds or something he or she usually enjoys. Talk about something the person enjoys while remaining calm. “If you can stay calm, you can mirror that calmness back to them,” Kallmyer of the Alzheimer’s Association advised.
  • Keep in mind that the world is distorted for an Alzheimer’s patient. The patient is sensitive to noise and easily fatigued. “They become exhausted trying to follow on a day-to-day basis,” Hall said. “Without a rest period, it’s like you didn’t get a toddler to nap. They are increasingly irritable and they are confused late in the day. That’s called a sundown syndrome — when they may become agitated and aggressive.”
  • Call for help.Call 911, if the patient or you are at risk for injuries. When a patient sees a uniform, he or she is likely to feel reassured about his or her safety, Hall said. _______________________________________________________________________________

Further comment:

The above is good advice when dealing with anyone who has a form of mental illness.

At the same time I so strongly believe Alzheimer’s disease is preventable, treatable, and in some cases reversible  that I am writing a groundbreaking book on the subject. But those writings divert from the conventional mantra that , like most chronic ills, for Alzheimer’s disease nothing can be done but the giving of toxic drugs and the preparing of the patient for another profitable venue, the nursing home industry. Plant, Herb Compound Prevents Brain Inflammation

1 Comment 02 February 2011

brain

It has been our firm conviction that Altzheimer’s Disease as well as brain inflammations are really “consciousness diseases.”  To explain why is  a long discussion but the essence revolves around an understanding that what we call “consciousness” in nature and in ourselves has a precise and distinct identity, that it forms a universal relationship of connection in nature and in ourselves. As  a truly universal relationship of connection, consciousness may be seen as the foundation of nature’s oneness, and not mathematical relationships which point to what is mechanical and unconscious, or virtually the opposite realities in nature.

The bottom line of what this means is that a culture such as our own will evidence epidemic levels of “consciousness ills” and will not be able to reverse these ills in conventional ways (using pharmaceutical drugs/math-designed pills which themselves represent a fundamental misunderstanding of what is being treated! Nursing home patients given multiple drug treatments thus not surprisingly walk the nursing home halls like zombies. It is tragic. Even Nobel prize winning physicists have been known to fall prey to Alzheimer’s because the mathematical understanding does not piece that veil.

This is the reason why in the healing arts we  turn to natural remedies instead to treat consciousness ills.

Also just as a flame takes light out of substance that is being burned, inflammatorz conditions recede consciousness, and most notably in brain tissues but actually throughout the body.

This is a different way of looking at things and is part of the reason we highlight the article below.

Plant, herb compound prevents brain inflammation

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Age-related brain illnesses like Alzheimer’s disease are devastating, but there are many ways in which individuals can help thwart their onset. According to a new study published in the Journal of Nutrition, luteolin, a nutrient found in various vegetables and herbs, reduces inflammation in the brain responsible for causing memory and cognitive dysfunction.

At the first sign of an infection, immune responders in the brain and spinal cord known as microglial cells normally begin to produce signaling molecules called cytokines that generate an inflammatory response to deal with the problem. But as people age, the microglial cells begin to degrade in function, leading to excessive cytokine production and corresponding brain damage.

“We found previously that during normal aging, microglial cells become dysregulated and begin producing excessive levels of inflammatory cytokines,” explained Rodney Johnson, professor of animal sciences at the University of Illinois (UI) and author of the study. “We think this contributes to cognitive aging and is a predisposing factor for the development of neurodegenerative diseases.”

But luteolin — which is found in foods like carrots, peppers, celery, peppermint, rosemary, chamomile, and olive oil — effectively produce a natural anti-inflammatory effect that stops the errant microglial cells from causing damage. Even during otherwise normal microglial function, luteolin helps to protect cell neurons from damage as well.

“The neurons survived because the luteolin inhibited the production of neurotoxic inflammatory mediators,” explained Johnson.

For the study, the team compared two groups of mice, one of which was fed luteolin. Aged mice taking luteolin performed better in learning and memory tests than did their non-supplemented peers, and the cytokine levels in the brains of mice in the luteolin group were comparable to those of much younger mice.

“When we provided the old mice luteolin in the diet it reduced inflammation in the brain and at the same time restored working memory to what was seen in young cohorts,” Johnson said.

Alzheimer's stepping into the light

Nathan Batalion, Global Health Activist, Healingtalks Editor

(Healingtalks) This article gives information on Alzheimer’s disease that really cannot be found elsewhere. It offers a unique perspective on the root cause of Alzheimer’s disease which supposedly is unknown. It outlines Alzheimer’s stages and how to naturally treat them in other than conventional ways.

First for the die-hard skeptics as to any natural Alzheimer’s treatments, see the Ann Wigmore’s Raw Living Foods Lifestyle video. Next let’s review some ground-level basics:

How common is alzheimer’s disease?

According to the Alzheimer’s Association’s 2008 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures up to 5 million people over age 65 in the United States have Alzheimer’s dementia (sometimes called “Alzheimer disease”). About 500,000 have what is called early Alzheimer’s. This is early-onset Alzheimer’s dementia (before age 65). The early Alzheimer’s stages commonly lead to the latter stages.

10 million baby boomers will slip into various stages of Alzheimer’s disease. This now forms the sixth-leading cause of death in the US. In the span of just five years, from 2000 to 2005, there was a 44% increase in Alzheimer’s disease as a leading cause of death! In other words, there is a growing epidemic.

About 1 in 5 women who reach the age of 55 years develop Alzheimer’s symptoms in their lifetime. About 1 in 7 men become an Alzheimer’s patent. In addition the illness is progressive. Thus according to 2007 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures, nearly half of those over 85 will become Alzheimer’s patients.  Alzheimer’s dementia is the most common and it is tragic. Hardly anything elicits compassion more than seeing a friend or loved one, who is full of life experience and, nevertheless slips into a no-man’s land of Alzheimer’s stages. This requires ever more diligent and challenging “Alzheimer’s care.”

Words of hope

The above statistics are alarming. There is, however, great news coming from those who practice natural healing. The message is that there are effective natural Alzheimer’s treatment protocols being practiced and the illness is thus reversible if enough of these potent natural approaches are simultaneously combined. This refers to Alzheimer treatment approaches that are not drug-based. I know this for myself because I have been able to reversed my cognitive challenges and this has held steady at the age of 60. This message of hope thus extends to those with early-onset Alzheimer’s or mild cognitive difficulties as well. It proclaims that we can care for, take precautions and  prevent Alzheimer’s disease from occurring in the first place. It is fine to learn to play chess and/or learn a second language. I have done both to exercise the mind. But honestly said, that is not enough to get to the deeper root causes of this growing epidemic. What is exciting is that curative approaches are available but even recognize them requires a deep paradigm shift. Then one can shout this news, this message of hope, metaphorically said, from roof and mountain top peaks.

Words of critique

It takes much restraint to limit my words of critique aimed at a medical treatment system that is in shambles. The only positive that can come from that is that perhaps thereby we might learn what not to do, and in away that gives insights into opposite approaches for a turnaround. In that spirit let me say the following. At present virtually all conventional Alzheimer’s research is drug and pharmaceutical-centered and a little focuses on genetics. With Alzheimer’s disease research there have been literally billions spent by drug company giants to find the next “miracle” Alzheimer’s drug or mix of Alzheimer’s drugs that will yield a huge windfall via some breakthrough Alzheimer medication. It hasn’t happened, nor have there been any effective genetic treatments. Please visit my related article on 50 Harmful Effects of Genetically Modified Foods which offers to explain why genetic approaches are also not the way to go in the search for cures. When taking popular Alzheimer’s drugs some find mild symptom relief but accompanied by so-called serious “side-effects.” Actually there is no such thing as a “side-effect” except in the mind of one who wants to diminutive a harm – calling it non-primary.  With this mindset, Alzheimer’s patients continue to be drugged even though drug-taking has been so decisively failure-ridden.

When such failures are not faced, and instead there is always a drug cure just around the corner, you can be sure there is an ideological bias that prevents some from facing facts.

People who suffer from being ideology stuck can’t really see straight. They project their vision of reality onto the world all around us and then see only what they want to or are able to see and believe, It may surprise many that modern medicine suffers from such an ideology and that this could be hugely blinding and harmful. That ideology is taught in most conventional medical schools, many of which are funded by pharmaceutical firms. From that ideological viewpoint comes all kinds of self-convincing arguments, that modern medicine is not at fault for the rising epidemics of chronic ailments, that we are doing the best we can, and that their approach is ultimately superior, more exacting, more serving those who are ill – and the clincher, most ”scientifically objective.”  Little is allowed to filter in to question that view.

Thus generally one is hard pressed to find any conventional Alzheimer’s books, Alzheimer’s articles, Alzheimer’s video, or Alzheimer’s awareness programs, Alzheimer’s nursing home or hospice programs that offer solely natural approaches for the treatment of Alzheimer’s. Why? Supposedly they have no scientific merit. And if something natural claims to work, we can discount it because it hasn’t been subjected to multi-billion dollar protocols, like drugs have. This is the argument.

Navigating the confusion to find the light

If a culture exhibits growing levels of chronic ailments, and which refuse to be cured, one can suspect that something is very deeply wrong with not just lifestyles but what guides those ways of living - the root understanding of ourselves and our world. For the hardest-to-face truth is that drug approaches are supported and natural ones shunned because the latter exhibit relatively little profit potentials. The strong focus on money-making in our culture, mixed in with the healing arts, involves what I call a ”mathematization of consciousness.” and where math symbols are our guiding tools to best separate elements of consciousness. What does that mean and how is that relevant? The little squiggles that a math professor writes on a blackboard, and that are printed on all currencies, bank statements and credit cards are tools of consciousness. Their role is to separate elements of consciousness. We can see this in all counting routines, an no matter what we count. Thus we can count three apples only when they are three separate apples and not when we make applesauce. A powerful way that the monetary mathematization of consciousness works is that we offer a salary to someone – which attracts their attention to focus on what we want them to focus on. To focus on something strongly, as in focusing under a microscope, is to separate an element of consciousness. Why is this set of unusual observations so important to highlight in relation to what is Alzheimer’s disease and its treatment?  What happens with the offering of monetary lures or gains is that this then attracts consciousness powerfully to certain directions. It biases and even corrupts the integrity of consciousness as a whole. This is critical to know in all the healing arts. The main bias is generally towards approaches that optimally make money. These directions have certain qualities and characteristics, and those little pills we call drugs happen to have many of those features. To explain fully why and how, would take a long time – and perhaps take us off course. Suffice it to say it becomes extraordinarily difficult to navigate our ways in the midst of a serious illness, to find unbiased, commercially-uncorrupted knowledge in modern dau healing arts conducted as a business.

So what can one do on one’s own? How can we break the commercial trance or dare to move away from what so-called experts tell us when really they are selling us a story? And to what, and where is there integral guidance?

To make this yet more difficult, there is no simple standardized Alzheimer’s test or simple Alzheimer’s definition for what is Alzheimer’s disease or the Alzheimer’s patients’ different stages of Alzheimer’s dementia. We could wish that Alzheimer’s testing was more refined nowadays but typical Alzheimer’s symptoms start with, most importantly, a noticeable decline in memory. With Alzheimer’s memory loss and various Alzheimer’s facts we might recite, there is the further inability to exhibit coherent speech and understanding, to recognize and identify objects and persons, to exercise motor and sensory functions, to comprehend tasks, and to think abstractly and make sound judgments. This means Alzheimer’s disease symptoms not only have confusing facets but the Alzheimer’s patient must rely on others to make judgments for them. But what if the judgment of experts who supposedly should uplift our consciousness to pull those who have fallen back up into the light, are not themselves enlightened, are following blind ideologies steeped in the corrupt climate of optimal money-making. Then we run the serious risk of giving over our best judgments to precisely  those who will misdirected us. This is commonplace in our modern world. How can one get out of this predicament?

Understanding consciousness diseases

A first and hugely important step is to understand that all confusing symptoms of Alzheimer’s dementia really belong to but one unifying  phenomenon, that of a a ”consciousness disease.“  For insight piercing wisdom involves ever looking at the whole of things, rather tiny symptomatic details under a microscope. To be a consciousness disease means there is more to it than a physical ailment where this or that foreign protein is deposited in a neuron.. The reason we call it a “consciousness disease” is because the common factor in all the above symptoms (like loss of memory) is an inability to connect elements in our consciousness.

Now we need to connect the dots ourselves, or understand why we so classify Alzheimer’s disease as a consciousness ailment. The reason is that we, at this raw-wisdom site, fundamentally see the root essence of  consciousness as precisely the ability to connect to all of the world around us and within.

This is a novel definition of the essential function of consciousness is critical to understand and is the begining of the path of stepping back into the light. Understanding, mind you, and not a pill or high-tech manipulation or even an herb or superfood. This understanding is what is most vital, and it not easily or cheaply arrived at.

Before we gather that deep understanding, let us first look at the  terrain to be navigated, the various known forms of dementia as modern medicine best classifies them.

Bear in mind, again, they all reflect apparently different breakdown of consciousness, of our brain and of various neurons spread throughout. These delineations of Alzheimer’s symptoms and of other dementia symptoms may, however, overlap. We thus can distinguish Alzheimer’s vs. dementia in the forms that follows.

Demetia types

  • Alzheimer’s Disease – This represents 60-80% of forms of dementia. Early signs of Alzheimer’s include most distinctively memory problems, impaired judgment, confusion and physically trouble speaking, swallowing and walking. There are various Alzheimer’s tests, especially memory tests for this disease. Alzheimer’s stages or the disease differentiation is further broken down into early-onset Alzheimer’s (about 10%) and late-onset Alzheimer’s dementia (90%) and familial Alzheimer’s disease or FAD. The latter represents inherited Alzheimer’s which is passed on at least two generations and is relatively rare. Alzheimer disease is diagnosed with the common presence of protein deposit fragments (beta-amyloid plaques and protein tau or tangles).
  •  Vascular dementia is the second most common form of dementia. It involved decreased blood flow to parts of the brain as the name implies. Often patients have a series of small strokes. Since this dementia vascular ailment has clear vascular dementia symptoms and causes, one can design an Alzheimer’s vascular dementia treatment protocol that at least heals the circulatory system. Vascular dementia symptoms may somewhat overlap with Alzheimer’s dementia, even if there is little memory loss.·
  •  Mixed dementia is exactly what the name entails in this Alzheimer’s diagnosis. It exhibits several types as listed here simultaneously.
  •   Parkinson’s symptoms exhibits abnormalities in “Lewy bodies” named after the physician who first discovered them. This, in turn, refers to abnormal deposits of the protein alpha-synuclein that forms inside and disturb nerve cells in the brain. With Parkinson’s diseases, the deposits tend to be in the deeper layers, thus affecting motion. Parkinson’s symptoms, however, tend to often develop into Parkinson’s dementia in the later stages. With early Parkinson’s the symptoms are milder.
  •  Dementia with Lewy bodies Alzheimer’s disease assessment for this ailment involves, again, Lewy bodies but also now found in middle and outer structures of the brain, affecting emotions, judgments and awareness. This helps distinguish dementia with Lewy bodies from Parkinson’s brain abnormalities. We find thus the presence of visual hallucinations as well as muscle rigidity and tremors, along with a loss of general cognitive abilities.  It is claimed that there is no cure, and the disease tends to be progressive.
  •  Frontotemporal dementiainvolves damage to and atrophy of the brain’s frontotemporal lobe (the brain cells in the front and temporal or side regions) with symptoms of personality changes and language difficulties. It tends to happen at a younger age 40-70 than other forms of Alzheimer’s dementia. Frontotemporal dementia treatment is typically is with anti-psychotics and anti-depression pharmaceuticals This is only way our grossly bankrupt medical system seems to address such ailments, being itself, in my opinion, deeply consciousness-ill.
  •  Creutzfelde-Jakob disease (CJD) or prion disease (also occasionally spelled as Creutzfelde-Jacob disease shows a mis-formed prion protein throughout the brain that leads to a rapid death.  A cause seems to be mad cows disease.
  • Normal pressure hydrocephalus exhibits a hydrocephalic buildup of fluid in the brain, simple water on the brain that interferes with brain functions. Symptoms often include difficulty walking, loss of memory, and trouble controlling one’s urination. So having surveyed this conventional classification system, and where we distinguish different categories of protein, fat, circulatory and fluid abnormalities does this really give us the insight needed to turnaround these conditions or to knoq the deepest Alzheimer’s cause or ways toward an Alzheimer’s cure, or the best Alzheimer’s therapy. Another kind of knowing is necessary which we will cover.  Again knowing isolated details does not mean we at all grasp the larger connective picture to harvest the wisdom for a real way out   Modern western culture tends to navigate consciousness so very poorly, and is thus predictably at a loss in reversing the most serious of “consciousness ailments.”  It proclaims then that there is no cure.

No Cure?

Only a very small percentage of Alzheimer disease victims are early-onset (prior to age 65) and/or correlated to rare genetic or inherited forms. The rest are clearly related to our lifestyles.  Yet according to the Alzheimer’s Association  “no treatment is available to delay or stop the deterioration of brain cells in Alzheimer’s disease.” As a result physicians themselves are prone to develop Alzheimer’s disease later in life. In their minds, there is no way to prevent it. Even some Nobel-winning physicists and chemists have fallen prey. This is revealing as to the depth of our modern lack of understanding via these two disciplines.

  • The truth is that Alzheimer’s dementia and early Alzheimer’s disease cannot be cured by any typical chemical fixes (or the underlying ideology of healing). With rare exceptions, synthetic drugs are symptom-modulating. They fail to provide any true healing of the Alzheimer’s patients’ consciousness condition or “the Alzheimer’s brain.”

In the philosophy of raw-wisdom, we try to try to give an entirely different perspective. We oppose what usually happens in Alzheimer’s care – the multiple chemical-drugging of Alzheimer’s patients at different Alzheimer’s stages, and who then walk the halls of nursing homes (or their homes) like spaced-out zombies approaching their death. This drugging most often takes one deeper and deeper into forms of dementia or lowered consciousness. Our livers and kidneys valiantly try to eliminate these artificial chemical fixes, forced upon them by conventional Alzheimer care protocols and derivative of an immensely unwise modern worldview. That worldview is itself, in my opinion, deeply consciousness ill. How can a vision that is itself consciousness ill, guide us to cure the deepest forms of consciousness ailments? It cannot and never will, no matter how many billions of dollars or how much consciousness attention is falsely drawn in that direction. This is where we are stuck, and for those who suffer from this ailment, essentially left to die in a puddle of hopelessness.

Our primary educational system, while sometimes focused on “greening” or making more organic our physical landscapes, does not really green “our inner mind’s landscapes.” We are not taught to change the core modern ideology or inner overall worldview. Thus we keep following the very same path that led us to where we are now in the first place.

Everything is supposed to submit to a mechanical, math-defined atomic explanation. Or is there another way of seeing?

Raw-Wisdom view of Alzheimer’s causes

Our “raw-wisdom” view of the causes of Alzheimer’s disease is thus quite different because we subscribe to an essentially different core vision. As a result, we propose that Alzheimer’s dementia, and other forms of dementia, can be reversed once on makes this inner vision shift. People with Alzheimer’s can be turned around, but again not via typical Alzheimer’s medications or Alzheimer’s medicine protocols. It is rather and solely by means of a more authentic enlightenment, an understanding of Alzheimer’s causes and/or what really is the nature of a consciousness ailment.

Throughout my writings and presentations I personally discuss how, at the age of 17, I had a very high fever. This had an impact similar to a stroke. It caused my left brain to shut down and I saw the world in a different, right-brain dominant, ideology-stripped (thus “raw” way) and which was also holistic. The experience was thus ultimately enlightening because the right brain is the seat of wisdom, the left-brain not.

Dementia, from the perspective of that inner experience, appeared to me and unmistakably as “an illness of consciousness.” What I also learned is that most prevalent illnesses of our times – like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and arthritis stem from more than physical causes. They are ultimately illnesses of our vitality and thus also of our consciousness. Diabetes patients often suffer from a loss of feeling or a numbness in the extremities. Alzheimer’s dementia and diabetes thus both involve consciousness ills.

That is why we can turn to the triumvirate of anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and alkaline remedies and diets to reverse both such diseases simultaneously. This takes a little more explaining. Suffice to say that these three approaches help to rebuild out vitality. This is because they deal with the root and deepest cause, the foundational loss of aliveness and not the surface symptoms or the surface illusions. Modern medicine follows the ideology that surface illusions are always pierced via lab protocols that are accurately measured or mathematized. I have explained in my writings why this is  not valid – or only true when designing and testing machines but not true universally nor in the healing of our minds, emotions and bodies or the whole of the healing arts.

Ultimately the essence of our whole world is composed, in my view, of the fluidity of what is the experience of consciousness. It is only on the surface level that the world appears made up of “separate forms of hardness,” or of matter defined mathematically. The reason why western civilization is not really advancing in dealing with Alzheimer’s dementia is exactly because we lack the inner tools to see past-the-surface-appearances, or lack a more illusion-piercing understanding. The typical doctor follows the ideologies taught in medical school and as influenced by grants from pharmaceutical giants. He or she typically has not well healed or trained their own consciousness to be able to heal the consciousness of their patients. That is why chronic ailments in our culture are so out of control and growing in prevalence.

Consciousness and life, in my experience, form the very foundation and essence of all of nature and not what manifests in machines or is defined mathematically as presented in the ideology of nature that has been dominant since the 17th century. Thus if a person has a car accident, and an arm is severed, a surgeon can easily treat that condition in a mechanical way – like a mechanic pulls out and replaces a machine part to make the machine run better. But the same surgeon is relatively helpless in reversing a “consciousness illnesses” like Alzheimer’s dementia.

He or she may turn to his medical colleagues or a group professional consensus to supposedly gather objectivity. But this does not happen when the whole group follows the very same false ideology. Then everyone repeats the same mistakes in unison. They all prescribe drugs, surgery and radiation for systemic, depth, chronic consciousness ailments (not just emergencies like car accidents) – and evidencing a mechanical orientation throughout.  But how can the surgical/allopathic approach work so well, be life saving sometimes, and yet be grossly ineffective elsewhere? This is because the surface and depths of nature, and thus of ourselves, actually work in polar opposite ways.  Consider the following principles:

A) The Root Oneness - Suppose what we experience as “consciousness” makes up again the real unifying essence of all of nature both in and around us. To reiterate, the philosophy of raw-wisdom sees this consciousness as ”the potentially universal relationship of connection in all of nature, connecting everything (exemplified by whole living organisms connected as a whole). What is life then brings out this “consciousness essence” of nature. A machine made of separate parts does not bring out this essence, but the opposite. A bulldozer does not feel pain in lifting a rock. It is not alive.  Otherwise living, consciousness-connected organisms cry, feel pain and die when physically cut apart or when their love, a connective emotion, is progressively hurt.  Consciousness ailments occur precisely and distinctly when our memory fails to connect memories in the present. Or we cannot connect one past event to another or see very simple ties. We even can’t recognize whole connected images, figures, or even the faces of loved ones we’ve lived with for half a century! The breakdowns of consciousness are intense! Because, once again, consciousness forms this universal relationship of connection, it is at the taproot or the very deepest basis for our at-oneness and that of nature’s at-oneness – and for living organisms thus their wholeness and health. That is why consciousness forms what we call “nature’s true essence” – and not at all the mechanical order. Besides it is irrational to connect a vision of nature using the highest abstractions of separation. The re-establishment and nurturing of our connective consciousness directly does more than just turn around surface symptoms.

B)  Root Surface Duality (and Depth Non-Duality) - There is a duality in consciousness because one cannot connect without something prior being separate, and vice versa. The essence of consciousness is thus never stagnant. It is alive and tends to also split in just two fundamental directions – the separative and connective (or the to-and-from-directions relative to nature’s consciousness-born underlying oneness, this singularity). I express all of this very, very abstractly because there is no other way to say this. Please don’t feel unmoored as a result. Nothing is more abstract than to talk about than nature’s oneness, and also nature’s first duality/two-ness. Nevertheless, we must try to understand these primary elements if we seriously want to turnaround consciousness ailments. For these two most universal principles  are the most vital to know to fathom deep insights. Also our proposed primary duality of nature is similar to the yin yang view of ancient China, but I believe it is a little more distilled. A slight difference in a universal or mountain-peak perspective yields greatly different results in the details of life’s living. This especially applies to the healing arts because healing is the ultimate process of connecting and reconnecting to wholeness. Without a clearest of clear universal views, we cannot fully heal. Neither the patient nor the physician, struggling with illusions, can heal. Both are misdirected toward surface details and symptoms. Both have then lost sight of root causes of things, and especially in dealing with Alzheimer’s treatments.

Secondly we must consider quite seriously abandoning the most important root duality of our times, of the whole of the western mindset. This refers to the belief that matter and energy (defined mathematically) form the dualistic essence of nature. This duality is to be math reunited as in Einstein’s famous formula.  Matter and energy thus form the primary duality in the modern worldview ideology. This vision was, in my perspective, unwisely created and systematized in the 17th century. The seed was planted for what now is bearing fruit. Our alternative view, and using the connective/separative first duality, offers for me a deeper and more integral understanding. This duality also, as I see it, creates the two fundamental forms of consciousness we experience in our lives, the two that polarize into what is usually called a right/left brain split. The right brain tunes into connective consciousness. It can recognize whole faces and wholes in general. The left-brain tunes into separative consciousness or the details, the surface appearances, the illusions, the relative corruptions of consciousness, and what appears step-by-step as sequentially and mechanical.

Deep Flaws

The reason why our modern, left-brain dominant worldview is so off-base is very simple. First math symbols, which create the soul of the Renaissance/modern worldview, tend to abstract how to separate all elements of consciousness and thus form the pinnacle guides for that form of awareness. But if consciousness more truly forms the universal relationship of connection in nature, we can predict that the mathematical view will screw up our world royally. It will undermine life and consciousness and dramatically so in the long run. This was not so in the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, when the employment of machines replaced slavery and the need to do mechanical chores. We avoided a negative. Such a double negative forms a positive. But when mechanicality and similarly designed things are unleashed to the depths of nature, we start to replace and harm life and consciousness (polluting our environment globally). Thus ultimately we end up in BIG trouble. This is why multiple-drugged Alzheimer’s patients have their inner world globally polluted and walk the halls of nursing homes like zombies. This is why a large random mix of chemicals will very distinctly pollute land sites or will kill all of life in an organic compost heap. This is why we must – not maybe – turn more to living organics and to detox out synthetic chemicals, not take them in (no matter what the sales pitch) and in order to reverse consciousness ailments.

Understanding this “why” is critical. It is a filtering down from a new mountain-peak worldview that reties together vision around a different model as a whole. Otherwise we won’t really turnaround our ways. We stay trapped in the old, falling-apart vision and move toward precipitous cliffs. We move to our own self-destruction and that of life on earth. This is why doctors turn to chemicals to heal even themselves, not knowing better and following the dictates of a false ideology. This ideology teaches them nutrition isn’t all that important, and that organics are optional. Detoxes are then also unnecessary. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When we thus mind-openly ingest multiple drugs or chemicals (which of course are math-designed and again follow the same ideology which makes a marriage with money-making) and when those chemicals enter thus freely into our bodies to supposedly heal all cells, the effect is really opposite on the whole. There may be some isolated symptom modulation or change in surface appearances. The ultimate effect, however, is consciousness-separative, and thus consciousness lowering and devitalizing. This is why we have such growing pandemics of chronic ailments treated by drugs that do not really cure. Pains may be numbed so that we feel superficially “better.” But actually our aliveness is vastly impeded. We slip into yet deeper valleys of the shadow, unconsciousness or lowered levels of vitality. This is why again the patients of many nursing homes and hospices die a slow death on the providers’ favorite drug cocktails. What is Alzheimer’s disease is not at all understood by just reading Gray’s Anatomy or wearing a white coat and putting on some stethoscope to psychologically impact the unwary.

Because we really fail to understand some such deep truths, life-forms on earth are wholesale dying. We are indeed in the midst of what I cannot but call an “eco-holocaust.” This is an apt phrase with 25%-50% of all species expected to become extinct in the next hundred years or by the end of just this century. To stop this whole horrible process, and to likewise to stop the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, the very first and most meaningful step is to challenge our core and taproot worldview. This is the single and most critical step. Everything else can then follow thereafter and from the mountain top view down. In order to cure Alzheimer’s and dementia we have to first fathom what is consciousness and its very, very  special healing role in nature. It is really the force and relationship that connects us to our own wholeness to keep us alive.

Keys to healing

The most important forms of healing thus begin with our mind and its core beliefs. Raw-wisdom thus sees, first and foremost, the need to again and again step outside the established shadowy vision and thereby back into the light. We’ve posted a few  articles to help make this mind shift.  Then we are better guided to elicit out of the whole nature, including our bodies and our brains and our neurons what is life and connective consciousness, rather than the opposite essence  (and which draws out mechanical unconsciousness and ultimately death).

Certain vital steps can be taken to so elicit this life and consciousness out of the bosom of nature and ourselves, and derivatively the whole of our bodies and also that of our dearest loved ones.

  • First we must stop taking pharmaceuticals and wean ourselves away both physically, psychologically and spiritually.  Approaches steeped in cultural unconsciousness cannot bring true consciousness back into our bodies. Don’t be fooled and deceived!
  • We take in more of what is “life” in nature, especially by adopting a revolutionary raw or living-foods organic, unprocessed diet. As to the importance of raw nutrition for Alzheimer’s patients, as well as physical and mental exercise, we recommend, for starters Brian Clement’s short video as it addresses the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease naturally.
  • For seniors the above two approaches are a beginning start, but not enough to really reverse Alzheimer’s stages because of a lifetime of following a body-polluting path. Next we need to also engage in serious reversals.
  • We alkalize and pursue anti-oxidating and anti-inflammatory remedies and diets. This is because these go directly toward reawakening life and consciousness. Among Alzheimer’s activities we recommend meditation and gentle exercise (plus adequate sleep) to also alkalize and ”unfire”our whole mind–body-spirit terrain to heal.
  • We detox, fast, juice feast and have regular far infrared saunas. We want to not only avoid but remove what our livers, kidneys, lungs and skin have valiantly tried to remove – but have been overwhelmed by the inundations of our culture.

Juice feasting

Just as water brings life and consciousness out of a seed, so it does within us.

However, pure water fasts should be done under a doctor’s supervision. A gentler approach is juice fasting or feasting. It helps to both cleanse and rebuild the body at the same time. With juice feasting we take in fresh, raw, organic juices and hardly anything else throughout the day. This offers a golden road to reverse Alzheimer’s disease and forms of dementia. For more information see www.juicefeasting.com.

You can also go to holistic spas like The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center or the Hippocrates Institute to learn about the best of alternative living food approaches. These approaches help call the life force of consciousness back out of our bodies – the opposite of the impact of synthetic drugs. If you go to either of these spas, let them know we referred you.

With juice feasting, it is recommended you use purely raw, living, vegetable-based, organic, whole and low-glycemic foods – and for reasons that belong to a non-mechanistic, life-centered worldview. Note that fluids are always more “connective” in their physical manifestations (dive into an ocean and the waters reconnect as you leave). Fluids have thus the potential, especially water bring out consciousness. This is why our bloodstream can penultimately house our life force, provided it is alkaline. Therefore also fluid nutrition is the more powerful way to overcome deep consciousness illnesses – including all the various forms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with different physical symptoms.

Diet changes

We advocate living, raw, organic, whole nutrients to build up the body and its living consciousness.

Because the different forms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are really one disease (manifesting in various surface ways), as we reorient the Alzheimer’s care to include a radical change in diet, to correspond with our radical change in worldviews. Our diet becomes more living.  Brain cells are then rebuilt with living materials. Again we recommend mostly raw, living, organic, vegan and alkaline foods in our diet. Some sources of information on this approach are the works of Dr. Gabriel Cousens and Dr. Robert O. Young. Also see our directory of raw food sitesnutritional research studies & super-recipes . Take advantage of our affiliates that also promote living-food products, aides and other help and inspirations we recommend. As we follow this lead,  new brain cells form to harbor living consciousness which is their birthright.

Alzheimer’s challenge

If you or a loved one is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, we challenge you to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease being treated naturally. We challenge you to take seriously the above unconventional advice. If two-thirds or more of individuals in our society are suffering from serious chronic ailments as statistics indicate, do you really want to be part of the conventional crowd?

Let this message also go out to your local Alzheimer’s support groups. This means serious lifestyle changes need to be considered rather than popping pills to feed pharmaceutical profits and then eating junk foods laced with chemicals and processed to death the rest of the time. Some of these changes may be psychologically challenging, especially for the elderly, and if they are very set in their ways. Thus showing Alzheimer’s patients some caring and loving transitions may be necessary. Keep focused and committed. Don’t lose faith. You are beginning on the path of stepping into the light and helping others. When you then experience a dramatic turnaround yourself, or of a loved one, please let us know. Send us your testimonials and/or videos. We want Alzheimer’s sufferers to have real hope and not further deceptions. Comment on this post to tell us your story about your challenges with Alzheimer’s disease experiences, and so we can further inspire others to also walk the path to the light.

ALZHEIMER’S DRUG FRAUDS

1 Comment 15 July 2010

alzheimer's-drug-fraud

Nathan Batalion, Global Health Activist, Healingtalks Editor

(Healingtalks) Aricept, a drug given to Alzheimer’s patients, has the following potential “side-effects” -  difficulty breathing; depression; fainting; seizures; severe dizziness or headache; shortness of breath and tremors. Would you give that drug then to an aged person or loved one? Given that the drug does not reverse Alzheimer’s disease at all but offers these so-called “side-effects,” wouldn’t you call that an Alzheimer’s drug fraud?

Alzheimer’s as a consciousness disease

My intuition tells me that such chemical drugs as Aricept will and even cannot reverse Alzheimer’s disease, by their very nature as pharmaceuticals. The reason is that Alzheimer’s disease is a consciousness disease – and which then leads to a number of insightful conclusions.

What is consciousness?

First you need to know exactly what consciousness is in order to treat such a consciousness ailment. William James once wrote the discovery of what consciousness is will be the greatest of all discoveries, paling other scientific breakthroughs. He was right. Let me thus clue the reader in on solving this mystery of mysteries. Perhaps the single greatest discovery of my life was to realize that consciousness forms the universal principle of connection in nature, or the principle of connection itself.  As a universal principle, it then unifies nature as a whole, forming nature’s essence and the essence of ourselves and our life force – a view that is contrary to the mathematical central paradigm of nature which Sir Isaac Newton advocated in the 17th century. Newton died a schizophrenic which tells you how much he knew

Manifesting consciousness

As machines manifest or model mathematical order, we as living organisms manifest this core consciousness in all parts of ourselves – and especially in our human brain. When that consciousness recedes through aging and in our highly polluted world, we fail then to make good brain connections, especially with our memory. We fail to also connect images as a whole – such as in the vital face-recognition of loved ones.

Why chemical drugs will never heal Alzheimer’s

And here is the root philosophical reason why drugs will never cure such a receding of consciousness. Remember that philosophy offers the greatest of wisdom because it is a peak view, the  “eye on the whole,” or what looks especially in the healing arts at the most holistic perspective. So philosophically, it is critical to know that we first create drugs synthetically in the laboratory and under the designing guidance of a 17th century, math-bound vision of nature. What’s wrong with that quantitative view applied to living domains and not just machines?

What is wrong with the mathematical view
representing and altering the essence of life

All symbols in our consciousness are pointing tools. Math symbols are indeed very special and point us where? They expertly direct us  to best separate elements of consciousness. That is what counting does. We can’t count three apples if we make apple sauce or connect what was separately counted.

Math symbols point us thus to the polar opposite of the connective quintessence of consciousness – the opposite or what opposes the essence of life!

How can that be is our technological age also helps our advancement. That is only because there are double negative ways of using machines and technolgy – such as to have a machine do a mechanical chore so that we avoid doing something mechanical. Double negative only form superficial positives that have no depth to them. That is why the chemical drugs impact our consciousness in such ways as to change symptoms but not to heal chronic and systemic illnesses.

Testing the mathematical order of chemical designs, including drugs

What happens when we take a random and large mix of chemicals, including drugs  in order to test not a drug in lab-isolation as the industry does to convince us of their value…but synthetic chemicals as a whole?

This destroys the entire life in the compost heap. Nothing can then grow with that compost becoming a supertoxic waste site!  What happens inside our bodies is the same.  Synthetically-isolated/separated chemicals pollute our bodies living, conscious cells. Synthetic chemicals pollute our overall living surrounding environment.

Abominable nursing homes, Big Pharm profit-centers,
where innocent patients are drugged

Now in regard to Alzheimer’s disease, almost every day I drie past a most beautifully-looking nursing home in my home town. It is beautiful at least form the outside, in the surface appearance or in the continuation of an illusion. Indeed the outside lawns are magnificently kept as the nursing home has plenty of dollars to do so. Inside the patients are, in my opinion, heartlessly poisoned with terrible chemical drugs that but feed an industry’s profits. The more drugs these nursing home patients take, the more they will walk the nursing home halls like unconscious zombies. This is a HUGE and indescribable tragedy in our culture because reaching old age should be a time for the warmest, most loving transmitting a lifetime of wisdom to our next generations. Instead our aged and beloved are poisoned and rendered unconsciously useless – useless except to the profit-garnishing, scavenger drug companies profit activities.

Extent of Alzheimer’s epidemic

Note that Alzheimer’s disease now affects over half of Americans aged 85 or older. But Americans who are 85 or over with Alzheimer’s only represent  only1/2 of 1% of the US population. Alzheimer’s more broadly affects 11% of those over 65 (who in turn represent 12% of the total US population). Doing the math, 11% X 12% equals 1.3% of the US population as Alzheimer’s sufferers.

Selling yet more drugs, with doctors as the frontline salespersons

The above creates a relatively limited selling market. It is not great news for Big Pharma. How to solve that commercial problem? The drug industry has a plan. They are campaigning to potentially triple sales. How ingenious! Indeed the NY Times announced that “medical experts” have such a plan via changing the criteria for the Alzheimer’s  diagnosis. This is now the typical route for increasing sales in dozens of disease venues, sometimes even creating disease names out of thin air – or where there are little or no real symptoms to sell drugs with.  As the NY Times chronicles:

“The new diagnostic guidelines, presented Tuesday at an International Alzheimer’s meeting in Hawaii, would mean that new technology like brain scans would be used to detect the disease even before there are evident memory problems or other symptoms. If the guidelines are adopted in the fall, as expected, some experts predict a two- to threefold increase in the number of people with Alzheimer’s disease. Many more people would be told they probably are on their way to getting it. The changes would help drug companies….The biomarkers were developed and tested…provide strong indications that Alzheimer’s is present, even when patients do not yet have dementia or even much memory loss. Dr. Aisen says he foresees a day when people in their 50′s routinely have biomarker tests for Alzheimer’s and, if the tests indicate the disease is brewing, take drugs to halt it…This is a major advance.”

It will certainly be a potentially “major advance” strategy for Big Pharma sales and PR, namely to now reach the 50′s crowd (27.5% of the US population instead of a paltry 1.3%) with the fear of getting Alzheimer’s to drive sales!  This doesn’t mention that the biomarker tests themselves can be harmful and can even cause cancer and can help induce Alzheimer’s.

So Many Blank Stares:
Failure of Alzheimer’s Drugs

GOING DOWN A FAULTY PATH
For years I have been writing about the impossibility of developing chemical drugs for reversing Alzheimer’s no matter how much is spent on research to cash in on a multi-billion dollar market. The chief reason is that a) Alzheimer’s is actually a consciousness disease, and where  b) consciousness is the depth principle of connection itself in nature which derivatively allows our  brains to make connections including memory and face recognition connections, and (c) or lastly where synthetic drugs are designed using the polar opposite principles in nature.  As a result, no amount of research into their use will yield positive results, that has been my claim. The evidence is already all around us. The more chemical cocktails we give to Alzheimer’s patients, the more they walk nursing home halls like zombies – with blank staring and dejected eyes  The great tragedy is that we turn so trustingly to allopathic doctors for help on the premise that they know more, have deeper insight or ultimately have a higher level of consciousness to aide those who have slipped or  fallen so to speak in their consciousness. In truth, that kind of knowledge of how consciousness works is virtually absent in modern science.

ONE CONFIRMING STUDY
Recently the University of San Diego released a study which was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It showed that nonamyloidogenic peptides formed by drugs to help AD patients and which are being tested for various Alzheimer’s treatments actually  killed and destroyed the very neurons needed for memory.

WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS – DEMONSTRATED

WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS DEMONSTRATED

MORE THAN JUST A THEORY
A theory of “what is consciousness” generally consists of an outline image in our minds that supposedly points to something  real in the world on this subject matter. All our words and symbols are just inner pointing tools to something. Theories are organized ways of orienting or pointing our awareness to things in our world and in relationship to each other. Thus to demonstrate that a particular theory or set of ideas actually points to something systematic, real, valuable and predictable becomes an event.

THE HARDER PROBLEM
Consciousness, however, represents potentially such a vast-touching -upon-all-the-world phenomena that its exploration can take a trillion different confusing directions. Everything we know is something we know in our consciousness.  And sophisticated and intricate theories may only point to some relatively narrow or ivory tower vistas of a part of that whole. These can result in a variety of entanglements of mind which miss the whole point of seeing “what is consciousness” in its full essence. Or one can easily fail to fathom a truly inner-mountain-peak vantage point of this unified and vastest of arenas for knowing.  Adeptly using high abstractions (universal concepts) in a philosophy of consciousness and states of consciousness may thus give but the deceptive appearance of having latched onto this transcendent highest view with some mastery. This is the harder problem in dealing with “consciousness.” However this is easier to be said than attained. An acid test is whether that proposed theory or definition of consciousness can actually help anyone enhance their consciousness or resist the slippages into consciousness diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Otherwise the theory is  just so much  disingenuous jibber-jabber.

TACKLING CONSCIOUSNESS
One highly effective way to get past this “harder problem” is having again an authentically high overview and not a personal or cultural, conceptually-biased orientation. this means looking from above the pointing paths of all concepts because touches everything. This is as if one must look at consciousness from above the entire left/right brain divide which is a superhuman feat.  The left-brain conceptualizes. It forms outline images as pointing tools or the world of ideas as Plato referred to this.  It uses these ideas to separate elements of consciousness and thereby to focus one’s attention. The right brain does the opposite. It helps us unpoint and unfocus. It looks at things as a whole or connectively and non-conceptually or intuitively. Sometimes what is called “right-brain” ends up dominantly functioning in the left-hemisphere of the brain and visa versa because these are two forms of consciousness that are tuning into dominantly by one side or the other, rather than physically bound. One verbalizes and philosophizes with concepts and the other cannot and has no inclination or need.  Here I consider myself to have an advantage in overviewing this study of a trans-split-brain view. This is simply because first I was trained in dominant left-brain skills as a philosopher and math prodigy and experienced the exact opposite, a radical left-brain meltdown causing a brain polarity shift to right-brain or connective consciousness dominance. This was similar to what happened to Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard brain scientists who had a stroke that also shut her left-brain down.  It allowed her, and myself similarly, to  visit the internal highways in unusual ways – and from what I consider again a seeing from a higher vantage point. This didn’t mean that when I later returned to using  familiar words and comfortable sentences – speaking English or German or Chinese or Hebrew – that then I discounted the importance of words. I did not abandon the dominantly verbal/mathematical approaches of the west in favor of a solely non-verbal, intuitive, vague or right-brain dominant mysticism – as with indigenous shamans . On the contrary, I sensed the huge and profound need to bridge these two worlds. It seemed now that I had a gift, and could do so with an impersonal, conscious and intentional approach.

BREAKING GROUND FOR A DEFINITION
Ultimately I came to some unique conclusions about truly what consciousness is, and resulting in  the following definition and theory which I consider of priceless value for the development of a higher consciousness and a conscious mind.  When one enters the raw world of consciousness there is no such thing as a “theory.”  Theories only exist when right and left brain consciousness is severed. When I try thus to state this in so many words – but not really needing those words -  it may make little or no ripples with others at first if my language of expression is not translated.  It is like writing a physics formula on a blackboard and about how to create an atom bomb  – and without first explaining how to apply the formula. The formulas appear meaningless and insignificant – just white marks on a dark blackboard – except to a person who knows the vast implications and pointing paths of those symbols. The responsibility then remains to demonstrate the value of what is created by those symbols (and here for the making of not bombs but  integral healing of life and consciousness within ourselves and throughout nature).

WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS?
With this said, let me now offer a definition of consciousness that shakes the foundations of the western worldview – the matter/energy math-defined vision. Imagine that  consciousness forms a potentially universal relationship of connection in all of nature.

Just as chocolate makes up the permeating “essence” of a chocolate bar,  it is another discussion to show that this consciousness also and thereby forms the penetrating, defining and universal essence of nature  (and not mathematical relationships or the  postulated microscopic atomic/subatomic model as what should be centrally focused upon). This means that at the core of nature there is a dance of consciousness and unconsciousness, of connection and separation, rather than a dance of matter and energy defined mathematically. This one idea, theory or definition thus has the potential to change the whole of our vision of nature.   Or when adopted, it can change the heart and soul of the collective view of what is nature and the functioning of our cosmos.

A third discussion is how this same consciousness can permeate nature to higher and lower degrees. The greater permeation or concentration manifests in  life. This means that living organisms, rather than machines brought into being by math-designs, thereby represent nature’s core essence to be elicited or brought out to dominate natural terrains – rather than machines and what is mechanical.

Some philosophers may not at all be open to this kind of thinking about consciousness.

In their minds, they may think it is far more rational and flattering to view the essence of consciousness as tied to higher-order skills in human beings – include self-cognizance  triggered by human brain neurons.  Everyone can define consciousness as they choose, with resulting limited foci. The defining words I use point to a larger and highly revolutionary vision. Here consciousness is not seen as something small, special and proprietary to  human brain cells but as arising out of a universal cosmic terrain from the core of all of nature.  This may shatter the view of the Renaissance, namely of humans being so special.

This view also came to me via a dissolving of the functions of my left-brain conceptual faculty – leaving behind attachments to such flattering conceptualizations.

The foregoing definition still can for a long time remain meaningless until examples are given of how it applies. The applications are powerful.

Note that we really want to know 1) what best brings out consciousness or maintains, nurtures, supports and raises that consciousness and 2) what does the opposite or takes away, destroys, corrupts or lowers consciousness, and how and with what procedures we follow this divide.

AT THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE
Above we referred to a close link between consciousness and life.  Here we refer to, among other things, the sentience and awareness of all living creatures, not just higher order brain skills. It is this awareness that manifests with life and among millions of species as a common denominator. Let us therefore think for a moment of life as the concentrated expression and presence of consciousness. This means living organisms are expressive containers for what brings out the connective essence of nature (consciousness) and rather than machines (per the math-based vision of nature) reflecting nature’s essential laws. So what is the first sign of this special presence of consciousness coming out of the core of nature? Life per se.

Organic life brings forth also certain distinct common features. In fact when an organism remains alive will it retain its connected wholeness. It will display on the surface or as seen in a silvered mirror what I would  call the “badges of organicity.” These are  thin outer signs of  the more important full depth-inner presence of depth-connectedness.

These outer signs include the solar radiance of a flower’s pedals, the rings of a tree, the organic-in-form branching veins of a leaf, the swirls of sea shell, and so on. Again organic forms show off  these beautifully attractive badges when they are reflective of a more deeply present connected whole via living consciousness.

Consider the possibility that consciousness again lies at the foundation of that depth-connectedness which keeps all living forms alive.  Therefore when an organic life dies, it then predictably loses both  the outer organic badge, the whole appearance on the surface,  and its more important inner-depth consciousness or fuller connectedness with. Trigger this undoing of life with a bullet or surgical knife or sword -  cut a living organism progressively into parts – and again it dies. There are exceptions, as the hard form of shells displays the organic badge longer until time it’s elements dissolves into its surroundings.  Ultimately the body’s flesh separates into parts or “falls apart.” It turns to dust in earthen graves. The inner consciousness once connected it more deeply within, and to the world around it as well. Now it is no longer present. This is but a first step in demonstrating  how this theory, definition and understanding  functions in nature. Next we need to visit what are tell-tale signs of any rising, eliciting and support of the presence of  consciousness – and derivatively life?

MORE EXAMPLES OF HOW AND WHY
Here are a few more genres of examples. We can discuss the details in future blog post.

A) Water elicits life and consciousness
Water’s essence in the mechanical/math-based/atomic worldview is H2O. In a life-centered worldview it establishes the connective relationship to elicits life and consciousness from every seed – and detoxifies, purifies, and helps re-establish life and raise consciousness in ourselves. There are several ways of demonstrating how water so function, and in this context why it brings out the rainbow, forms bubbles, rounds the sharp/oppositional corners of rocks, puts out fire, and so on.

B) Fire destroys life and consciousness
This is works on the same principle in reverse. This is why various states of inflammation are acute harbinger of later chronic illnesses,  when inflammation is not healed. The effect is a lowered state of inner health, wholeness, connectedness and overall awareness. When a person is angry, or their emotions are inflamed, the This is why largely uncooked,

C) Love elicits life and consciousness; hate and fear the  opposite
Love establishes an emotional connective relationship. Hate and fear do the opposite. This is why an angry person is not well aware of their surroundings, another persons feelings, etc. Anger and fear inflame emotions and bring on fiery adrenalin . Love guides us to connective oneness with what is loved. Hate and fear brake us away from that connective oneness in our consciousness.

D) Money corrupts consciousness.
Money mathematizes awareness. The lusting for money makes a marriage with the mechanical worldview.  This lowers consciousness, brings us into deeper states of illusion and corruptions of consciousness – where illusion is the falling apart of the integrity of the essence consciousness, its awareness of connective oneness. A money-centered society thus traps others in countless deceptions. It  puts everyone in competitive opposition to each other. It elicits fiery friction and feeds on fears and addictions to move an economy “forward.” It does not integrally evolve our human consciousness, the essence of our being, and the key to our evolution.

E) Chemicals harm Life; pollute the environment; upset the ecology of the whole planet, cause species to die
Take a random and large mix of chemicals, to test not individual separate chemicals but the underlying math-based order, and the mix will kill and destroy all of life and consciousness in the compost heap. The compost heap is symbolic. It is were a large and random mix, in fact all plant life forms can decay to form the building materials of all other plant life forms in an endless and integral circle of unity. The philosophy of chemistry, the math-based worldview, clashes and thus when widely and deeply applied will destroy life and consciousness in nature. This is why we have an epidemic of species dying.

F) Surgery, radiation and chemical drugs – chief tools of allopathic medicine – fail to truly heal consciousness ailments .
We see this with the health epidemics of cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s. To reverse these ills both in ourselves, and on a culture-wide basis, involves a true and revolutionary global mind change – a moving to a different essential vision of what is the core  of nature, and our innermost being. It sets us on a different course to healing rather than ills. A true global mind change thus first heals our consciousness and its relationship to our mind’s understanding of the world, then emotions, body, and being in this world or to all that surrounds us each day of our lives.

What-is-consciousness

What Is Consciousness

What is consciousness is no small topic at all.

LOSING ONE’S CONSCIOUSNESS IS THE LOSS OF A GREATEST TREASURE
There is hardly anything more sad and tragic in life than a progressive withering of one’s consciousness, especially after a life of richly gathering  knowledge, experience and wisdom. We see this especially in Alzheimer’s patients who can’t recognize their loved ones. This happen rather often and after long periods of  illness or insipid advancing old age. About half of Americans over 85 suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. With this receding of consciousness we lose the natural enjoyment, joy and zest for life. Life becomes a true drag. We may become chronically depressed with one foot in the grave. Colors then can become less vivacious, sounds less sonorous, thoughts less clear as the mind dulls, and motions slower and shaky. The ability to accomplish dreams is seriously impinged. We can’t pull really things off and pull them together.

WHY?
Whydoes all this tragically happen? Why isn’t life a more constant joyous upward journey? What causes this awful slippage into unconsciousness and how can it mostly be avoided or at least slowed?

COMPARED TO OTHER RICHES
Among one’s greatest life accomplishments a person can point to their livelihood  – as a  doctor, lawyer, accountant,  nuclear physicist, artist or entrepreneur. Or they may be a homemaker or parent. Without the knowledge however of what is consciousness, and thus the essence of life contained in different forms, all other riches and enjoyments of life can be taken away. One can say thus that the knowledge of what is consciousness (and as the essence of one’s life) is really the important study of all.

IF WE ONLY KNEW!
If we therefore and intimately knew what is consciousness and how it functions – whether how it rises or recedes – we could very greatly alter and improve the course of our lives.

BREAKTHROUGH KNOWLEDGE FOR HEALING
In my experience that kind of knowledge is entirely possible. It  is dear and precious to have. It can be accessible but only with an open, receptive mind that can think out of the box. One of my life aims, as I keep envisioning it,  is to write a popular book of  50 simple ways of healing the whole of ourselves, beginning thus first and foremost with a healing of our consciousness. This is because the healing of our consciousness is really at the foundation of all other major forms of healing.  This then supports and spreads out to improve the whole of our lives.

HOW I CAME TO THIS PERSPECTIVE
I came to this perspective through some trying experiences of my own, as outlined  in my bio. This influenced me to become a natural healer or naturopath – ever showing the path of healing journeys to others.

STATE OF OUR HEALTH – Sick Children

No Comments 28 December 2009

Our health care delivery system really is a wholesale shambles and our children suffer the most as a result.  Rarely do you find physicians promoting natural healing and preventive measures because that’s not where the money is. Our children are the fall-guys and  as adults they also reap the harvest of life-long chronic disease. Here are some of the main health statistics to back up this statement

CHILDREN WITH CHRONIC AILMENTS
The number of children with chronic diseases has nearly quadrupled since the time when some parents were children. In the 1960’s 1.8 % of children reported a chronic ailment. In 2004 it was 7.0. In 2006 it was 7.3% so that these statistics seem to keep rising.

CHILDREN WITH DIABETES
One in three children born this century will have diabetes. Diabetes is a life-long debilitating illness that yields more heart disease, blindness and neuropathy – yet diabetes is really preventable and reversible.

CHILDREN WITH CARDIOVASCULAR RISK FACTORS
By the age of 12, 70% will have signs of the hardening of arteries. Between the ages of 5-10, 60% have at least one risk factor associated with cardiovascular disease; 20% have two or more.

CHILDREN OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE
1 in 4 children will be obese or overweight in the past three decades. Nearly 50% of  the obese and overweight children will remain so in their adult life. One 1 out of 4 children are on food stamps buying mostly processed, high-sugar junk foods.

CHILDREN WITH CANCER
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease among children. Incident rates have risen about 25% over the last 30 years.

ADULTS OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE

Two-thirds of all adult Americans are now overweight.

ASTHMA
We have twice the asthma rates since the 1980’s. 9% of children have asthma.

ADHD AND LEARNING DISABILITIES
7-8% of school age children are diagnosed with ADHD or attention deficit disorder. Also 8% will have signs of a learning disability. ADHD was not on the radar in the 1960’s. About 2-3% of children are on medications for these conditions.

CHILDREN ON RITALIN
In 1990 the number of children on Ritalin was approximately 900,000 and has in two decades risen to 4-5 million.

ADULT CANCER
One in two men and one in three women will develop cancer in their lifetime.

TAKING DRUGS
Otherwise half of Americans have a chronic health problem (asthma and arthritis included) whereby they are taking prescription drugs every week.

HIGH CHOLESTEROL
100 million Americans have high cholesterol.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS
There has been a 50% rise in rheumatoid arthritis among women in the past two decades.

MULTIPLE CHRONIC DISEASES
More Americans are being diagnoses with multiple chronic diseases.

MOST ON THE RISE
The main chronic diseases in the US are on the rise, especially Alzheimer’s, diabetes, mental illness and obesity.

CANCER AND CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES
There has been no real progress in bringing down the death rate from cardiovascular disease or cancer. Since the year 1900 cancer rates have at least tripled.

Our expensive medical system does not focus on low-cost prevention means but rather on expensive, profit-generating medical and drug treatment. The system is really broken and needs to be overhauled. Physicians should be paid in relationship to keeping people healthy not for prolonged sick care. Our children suffer the greatest brunt of this mess. It is  hugely tragic. None of this has really been tackled or grabbed by the horns with our currently proposed government healthcare reforms.
