(HealingTalks) Do you ever feel like you’re running all over the planet to get everything done? Well Dr. Andrew Murray did just that all in the name of charity. The 32 year old Scot recently set what seems to most of us an impossible: 7 ultra marathons, 7 continents, 7 days.

Dr. Murray is making a serious statement about health in the western world and leading by example. If he can run 50 km across Antarctica straight after getting off a plane, we can all walk to work once or twice a week.

Setting Goals

This is not the first time Andrew Murray has embarked on an unbelievable journey. In 2011, he ran from Scotland to the Sahara. Averaging more than 34 miles a day, Murray made the 2, 659 miles journey in 77 days.

Dr. Murray had hoped to complete his ultra marathon tour in 7 days, but instead did it in 5! In that time, heĀ  slept a grand total of 10 1/2 hours. Despite the physical drain on his body, he experienced sights most of us only see in movies. He ran past the Great Pyramid of Giza at sunrise and had a drink in front of the the Sydney Opera House. He ran one day in frigid Antarctica and the next in Santiago, Chile.

But why?

Dr. Murray raised almost $12,000 for the Scottish Association for Mental Health. What’s the biggest boost to mental health? Exercise!

“Exercise also brings quality of life,” say Murray. “Every single study says it makes you happy, it releases happy hormones. You might find the actual exercise difficult the first couple of days, but it can be the single best thing people do.”
