How Harmful are Roundup and GM Corn?
(HealingTalks) One of the biggest studies regarding genetically modified foods and the herbicide Roundup has shocked researchers. The ingredients companies such as Monsanto are including in our food are essentially poisonous. Why has this been allowed to continue?

10 groups of rats, each containing five male and five female, were tested over the course of their two year lifetime. The control group of rats was not exposed to any type of pesticide or genetically modified food. Three of the nine test groups were given the standard rat food that contained various doses of the herbicide Roundup as Roundup and other herbicides appears on the food chain. The other six groups were fed food whose ingredients include NK603 corn, a Monsanto product. Groups were given either 11%, 22%, and 33% with varying levels of Roundup (some food had no herbicide in it at all).
What Were The Results Of The Research?
It was concluded that rats who ate genetically modified corn with traces of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide developed long lasting and terminal issues. Photographs of the rats shocked the world. Males who consumed NK603 corn and Roundup developed large grotesque tumors, extreme organ damage and premature death at a rate of 50%. The tumors grew so large in some rates that their ability to breathe was impaired.
Even if given smaller doses, the rats still suffered. The likelihood of extreme liver and kidney issues increased. Tumors grew 2% to 300% larger. Male rats only lived four months before developing issues while the females were able to hold out for seven.
What is most terrifying is that the amount of herbicide these rats were exposed to is consistent with the legal amount that is allowed in our water supply.
Why Is It Considered Safe For Humans and Animals?
Genetically modified crops were approved for humans to eat based on the result of a 90 day feeding trial. This is the first time rats have been tested throughout their lifetime and the results are staggeringly different.
Genetically modified corn is typically found in breakfast cereals, tortillas, snack chips, and many other products. Corn is genetically modified to be resistant to pesticides and sweetcorn has been altered to produce its own pesticide. While these modifications certainly make non-organic farming more efficient, it is disrupting the balance of the earth and making consumers ill.
