Natural health breakthrough – Australian honey found that kills even superbugs

(Healingtalks) Researchers have discovered a honey that is sold in health food stories in Australia and that turns out to be a near miraculous natural medicine. The research was published in the European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. A previous German study showed similar results.

Super bacteria killing honey

This new research shows this unique honey killed every bacteria the scientists threw at it. This included superbugs that normally defy anti-biotic treatments and plague hospitals because they kill patients around the world.

“Most bacteria that cause infections in hospitals are resistant to at least one antibiotic, and there is an urgent need for new ways to treat and control surface infections,” states Professor Dee Carter, from the University of Sydney’s School of Molecular and Microbial Biosciences.

“New antibiotics tend to have short shelf lives, as the bacteria they attack quickly become resistant. Many large pharmaceutical companies have abandoned antibiotic production because of the difficulty of recovering costs. Developing effective alternatives could therefore save many lives.”

Scientists examined over 30 different honey types in New Zealand and found that  Manuka honey, or jelly bush honey as it is known in Australia, killed all pathogens it was tested for. The patients also did not develop any short-term immunity to prevent their continued use.

Applied to the skin in the raw

Generally the honey was applied topically on the skin to treat infections, bites and cuts.  Raw honey must be used as pasteurized honey loses its healing powers.
