Study confirms the rich are more likely to lie, cheat, take advantage

lying and wealth

(Healingtalks) A consistent theme in the alternative press is the lying and deceit of Corporate America, allopathic medicine and Big Pharma, Big Ag and Big Food and the mainstream media that does the bidding of those with the deepest pockets.

Conscientious companies rare but growing

There are conscientious companies, entrepreneurs, and investors in our society, but they tend to be few and far in between. When I was on Wall Street, a couple of decades ago, I ran a brokerage firm that was the first member of the Social Investment Forum. Then and now there are exceptions, and fortunately they are growing in a backlash.

Why money tends to corrupt consciousness

Most generally, the pursuit of money does tend to corrupt consciousness. One can certainly ask why.

Money is just a medium of exchange with math symbols embedded. For a depth understanding of this issue, why money so tends to corrupts consciousness, it is necessary to first understand what consciousness itself is. We have close to a hundred articles on this topic, and explaining how consciousness definitively forms a universal relationship of connection inside of us and in all of nature. Its understanding should further become the foundation of our healing arts because healing is all about connecting universally or back to integral and not fake wholeness.

Instead we have a math-based, mechanical understanding of nature and our bodies (this was first applied to seeing our heart as a pump, why doctors wear stethoscopes symbolically) and that we have inherited from the 17th century. This forms the archaic, corrupt and unenlightened basis for allopathic medicine.

money and math

Money and mathematics

Mathematics, which money manifests via imprints on government printed/minted paper and coinage, contains a set of symbols which do not (this may come as a shock) magically unfold the depth and only laws of nature. Rather math symbols systematically bias point us to how we can best separate all elements of consciousness or to the most universal relationships of separation in nature. To measure there has to be a beginning and end point. To count something, it must be a separate something. The mathematical view also led us into the Industrial Revolution – to making machines, math-designed and made of separate hard metallic parts, and which has the most powerful applications to the development of many technologies. But what good are any of these technologies if, when used, we remain or have become  ill inside?

For without a holistic oversight, a purely universal separation of everything in our consciousness equals a disintegration and a corruption of consciousness’ wholeness -  as indeed occurs on Wall Street and with Big Pharma’s generated lies in labs.

Money is used to “focus” the attention of others (direct, have power over) the consciousness of others. What does it mean to  “focus” on something? It is to separate an element of consciousness.  So money focuses another to work for someone, to buy a product or vote for a political candidate – and often based on lies.

This is the source of the power of money.

mass media lies

Life undermined

Corruption in the marketplace doesn’t just form inequalities. Overall a corruption of the universal or global essence of consciousness corrupts or undermines life. Money therefore connects better with things life stripped, like foods that are chemically preserved for a longer shelf life. In the field of bioengineering, money connects to a patenting of life, the fixating or deadening of life.

Thus a purely money/math-vision directed society becomes a mess, disintegrative of life, and follows a non-sustainable path.

Greed corrupts

Studies that show greed (or a tendency to focus on money above all else ) corrupts. With the above understanding, this comes as no surprise.

Ethics and money study

Here the new study is from the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It found that the “upper class” tended to behave unethically more often than those less well off

Elizabeth Lopatto at Bloomberg writes the following:

“The ‘upper class,’ as defined by the study, were more likely to break the law while driving, take candy from children, lie in negotiation, cheat to increase their odds of winning a prize and endorse unethical behavior at work, researchers reported today in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.”

Cool tests

The tests for lying and deceit ranged from:

  • Obeying traffic laws - Videos showing if people  obeyed traffic laws–those with more expensive cars less
  • Business conduct - Short-term job interviews to see who might lie in the interview.  Here the interviewers who were wealthy were less likely to tell the candidate the truth about the short term nature of the position.
  • Playing games - A dice game where  wealthier participants were more likely to lie about their score to the score keepers.

“A $50 prize is a measly sum to people who make $250,000 a year,” one of the study authors told Bloomberg. “So why are they more inclined to cheat? For a person with lower socioeconomic status, that $50 would get you more, and the risks are small.”

cheat and lie for money

What this implies

If the rich are more likely to lie for a very tiny reward, guess what when it comes to billions? Is a purely and only commercially-led, money-driven society (Corpocracy) geared to progress for all or a few, with a resulting social disintegration?
