(Healingtalks) We want to avoid the worst foods for your heart because it is one of the most vital and important parts of your body. It basically keeps us alive. Given the American sad diet, not surprisingly heart disease is the number one cause of death in America and other countries, both for men and women. It is indeed because most people are unaware of the lifestyle habits that contribute to an unhealthy heart. Bad diet, lack of exercise and stress top the list of the culprits.
Coronary heart disease
There are several types of heart diseases but the most common one is a coronary heart disease. It occurs when plaque builds up in the arteries and can cause heart attacks and arrhythmia. It is important to note that this type of heart disease can be both controlled and prevented.
Exercising the heart
We all know the heart is a muscle. So what can we do to keep this muscles in your body functioning at its best? The best starting point is to exercise. We must engage in physical activity to keep the heart in shape. It’s common knowledge that when we exercise, we become healthy. And that it’s good for the heart to get a little push to pump more.
Here are the worst foods for your heart:
Fried Foods – Heated oils are generally adulterated and can clog your arteries.
Chemically-Laden Foods – Not good for any organ of the body. This included foods that have chemical preservatives and have essentially been deadened.
Processed Sugars – When highly processed sugars are eaten they often cannot be well absorbed by the body’s cells and thus remain in the blood stream to begin to decay the arteries and veins.
Soda – Studies have shown that drinking just one can of soda a day, high in sugar content, can lead to a 20% increase in the risk of heart disease.
Fast Foods – Not only are they heavily processed, they often contain the worst of fats, including transfats, and the most processed sugars, including those that have been genetically engineered.
Pizza -Most people are not aware of the level of saturated fat in a single slice of pizza. Just one slice amounts to 2/3rds the recommended limit for daily saturated fat. Thus two slices puts you over.
Processed Meats – Most processed meats contain the worst of fats.
Quantities of Animal Proteins and Fats- According to the China Study, most animal based proteins and fats contribute to heart disease and should not make up more than 5% of the diet to avoid colon cancer as well. If you are habituated to daily eating large portions of meat, we suggest you first cut down the portion. Keep in mind, however, that the ideal and best diet is a plant-based one, supplemented by B12 vitamin supplements and Omega-3 fats.
