(Healingtalks) Careful scientific studies have shown that the daily use of peppermint oil dissolved in water can help increase athletic performance. The findings were published in the Journal of the International Society for Sports Nutrition. Male student athletes were given a drop of the extract in 500 ml of water or about 16 ounces daily and found that their athletic performance improved within 10 days of taking this assist. No more than a drop is needed. A drop has the effect of  the equivalent of drinking 28 cups of peppermint tea

The mechanism by which peppermint works involves a systemic absorption of oxygen and thus a higher blood lactate threshold. The performance differences are real and significant.
