 Helping to stop factory farming

(Healingtalks) There is a new campaign which is being promoted by the Organic Consumers Association called Factory Farm Free Fridays. What they point out is that most every time you go to a restaurant and eat an animal-base product, whether it is meat, eggs or diary, and the products are factory farm produced, you are affecting your health negatively and contributing to local environmental harms , global warming and animal torture. You’re also increasing Monsanto’s bottom line and their power  as 90 percent of America’s animal feed comes from their genetically poisoned crops.

The Alternative

The alternative is not either not eat factory farm based animal products or to eat vegan. We have this choice and can act accordingly.

A Heinous Disaster Which Is Not Cheap

Today’s factory farms offer a model of agricultural product that is a heinous disaster, dumping tons of wastes into our water streams, creating antibiotic superbugs, contributing to poor public health, making farm workers sick, and supporting non-sustainable and poisonous gmo crops, and significantly adding to atmospheric emissions which may be fueling global weather disturbances. Often the factor farms which produce this mess are government subsidized so that the products remain cheap to the consumer. But they are not really cheap. Someone must pay for the added healthcare costs and the  environmental cleanup. The droughts, floods, hurricanes can cause a heavy toll. But we can start to do something to bring down the unconscious power of  factory farms and related industries over our lives.
